1) Surtain came out of the womb being coached by an NFL CB. Horn’s dad was a WR.

2) Surtain got better coaching at Alabama than Horn did at SC.

3) Every day in practice since 2018 Surtain has gone against Ridley, Ruggs, Juedy, Smith and Waddle

4) Surtain is much more disciplined and has better technique.

5) Horn is a slightly better athlete. 4.39 vs 4.42, 41.5 vert vs 39, 133 broad jump vs 131.

6) Horn is very grabby and gets flagged for penalties way too much.

If what Broaddus says is true (coaches prefer Horn, scouts prefer) it is only because of the Quinn/Muschamp relationship and MM coached Joe Horn. Coach former player relationship didn’t work out so well with Bobby Carpenter.

I dont think its a bobby Carpenter Situation though,Barbie was soft as a tissue paper but Horn is the opposite.

Yeah, not saying he’s Bobby. He’s a good player and worthy of a top 15 pick. I’m just saying that right now Surtain is the better player. I think the difference is Byron Jones at his best vs Janoris Jenkins.

FYI I listened to Locked On Cowboys yesterday and they said Surtain is better than Jeff O coming out.

I think too much is being made about Horn's swagger.

Horn gave up 3 TDs in like 7 games last year and was flagged a ton on limited snaps.

That's not to say I don't like him, but some of the reasoning I'm hearing from guys like Broaddus as to why he would choose him over Surtain is plainly dumb.

When was the last good Broaddus take on a DB?

He has always been good evaluating lineman, secondary players not so much

Surtain is much better than Horn

Horn is not worth a top 15 pick

He will be an above average starter but not a great CB in the nfl

This is a huge factor to me. Surtain has had an insane number of reps vs 1st round WRs, so the Polish he has is unmatched in the draft.

I like Horn, but who was he practicing against, was he even getting quality reps in practice?

Usually if there's a good WR you'll find a good CB on the same team cause they make each other better in practice.

Iron sharpens iron

I think Suratin’s football IQ is off the charts. That’s one of the reasons I find the comparisons to Byron Jones ridiculous. Jones was a smart kid that looked lost a lot of times on the field. Surtain never looks lost. He always understands where his help is. His route recognition is special. This all goes along with all the obvious physical gifts.

Yeah but Horn came out of the womb covering his Dad.

I'd be OK with Horn but I want Surtain because I think he's more ready for the NFL and he's not running his mouth about being the best. Surtain has played in the spotlight of big games against bigtime WR's and is up to the task of starting on day 1. His former CB partner is already a Cowboy and that's a benefit.

Sanders and Kevin Smith were the best CB tandem in the league when Kevin was healthy, partly because of their relationship. Sanders actually called Smith CB1.

Horn, and even Farley, may have the better possible upside but things have to fall in place for that to happen.

Surtain would be the best CB the Cowboys have drafted since Kevin Smith. Fills a need and can do it with class.

I don't think the difference has anything to do we talent or relationships, it's that competitive drive that the coaches love. Surtain is very soft spoken, professional type, where Horn is a dawg. That competitive drive could affect the entire unit and bring an identity to this defense.

That's very speculative. Maybe they just think he'll be the better player.

I think Surtain has peaked and I think he looks stiff in some situations.

Horns got the upside.

If the game is next week give me Surtain.. In 2 years give me Horn.

So if it’s my choice I go Jaycee Horn over Surtain.

I think the coaches think the same way I do and believe they can coach him into a better player.

That’s the most ridiculous thing I’ve seen in a while. Surtain who is 21 has peaked from a performance standpoint. Do you realize how bat crazy that sounds even if you’re trying to get your point across that you like Horn better than Surtain ?

Yes but Surtain Sr. has forgotten more about playing CB in the NFL than Joe Horn will ever know.

The real question is do you take Horn at ten if Surtain is gone. I would much rather have Surtain but I would still take Horn if he is the only one left

If he hasn’t peaked he’s close to it.

His floor is high and ceiling is low.

Yes, unless they're sold on Parsons and willing to replace a LB.

They need a CB, S and DT. They can use a LB and DE.

I personally wouldn’t because I dont think a corner makes us any better one way or the other but with the Cowboys thought process I think they do.

The #1 defender in this draft I think is Jaelen Phillips.. I just don’t know what his medical is. If team doctors think he’s fine going forward then he’s the steal of the draft.

I agree because Surtain has had coaching as good as the NFL, Horn hasn't. Can Horn retain his physicality and not catch too many flags? Because he will most definitely be a ref target because of his rep for contact.

However, one of the things this D needs is an injection of physicality and blue collar play. Horn would better bring that than Surtain.
