The differences between the Cardinals and Cowboys.

After all the playoff teams were decided, if someone told me the Arizona Cardinals would be playing in the NFC Championship, I would have laughed. Well here they are, headed to the NFCC, and mad props to them for getting there. I am pretty sure at the beginning of this season that most people thought the Cowboys would be in the NFCC and only the most die hard of Cardinal fans would think their team would get there.

That is where the difference between the Cowboys and Cardinals is. The Cards are playing with heart, intensity, hunger and desire. This is something that does not exist on the Dallas Cowboys. The Cowboys think all they have to do is just show up to the game and whoever they play will just roll over and play dead for them. The Cardinals are clearly showing what playing with heart, intensity, hunger and desire is all about. They have far exceeded anyone's including most of their fans expectations. If the Cardinals lose in the NFCC, they have nothing to be ashamed of, they can go back home proud of what they have done, knowing they gave everything they could possibly give on the field for this season.

Can the same be said about the Cowboys? Not even, once again they were the biggest tease of the NFL. A team with no heart, desire, hunger or intensity. Another shameful and disappointing season, but that is no surprise.

The Arizona Cardinals are overachievers, the Cowboys are the biggest underachievers in the NFL. We have a cream puff for an owner and the village idiot for a GM/owner. As long as the cream puff and the village idiot are running this team, nothing will ever change. I do hope the Cardinals can win the Super Bowl, it is fun watching a team that has completely defied the odds, done what nobody expected them to do. Too bad the Cowboys don't play the game with the same approach the Cardinals do, if they did, we would be in the NFCC and heavy favorites to win #6.

Didnt read a single word of the post, but I will tell you what won them the game.

Delhomme having his worst game as a pro, and constantly throwing into blatant double coverage.

It's that simple.

Having a receiver who can outjump any corner in the league and go get the ball doesnt hurt either.

*Edit* Funny you say they are overachievers. Because they were 9-7 in one of the worst divisions in football. This is a perfect example of how the only thing that matters is wins and losses. If you win people make excuses and theories as to why a team won and how good they are.

If you lose...well, we're seeing what happens.

Yes. Because overachievers lose 47-7 on the road.
Not sure what kind of relevance that has because obviously the Cards have learned from that and it shows.;)

Plus the Cardinals have Todd Haley as their offensive coordinator. Wish we would have had a coach like that on our staff at some point. Oh wait ...

You would have thought the Cowboys would have figured out after the Rams loss that nobody is going to roll over and play dead for them. In fact, I think a lot of the players said after that game that they got that message. Sorry, something else explains the rest of the season. Bad coaching, lack of cohesion as a team and just flat out poor play better explain this abortion of a season that any sense that they were invincible. That might explain the Commanders, Cardinals and Rams losses and the close game at home to the Bengals, but fails as an explanation after that point.

The irony is I don't hear much about Carolina having no heart. They're better than Arizona, but they lost to them at home so they must be soft and heartless, right?

Or maybe they just didn't play as well as they're capable of. It happens.

Another irony: If the Cowboys had beaten Philly and took their 9-7 record into the divisional round and won today, it wouldn't be enough that we finally won a playoff game in 12 years. The Negative Nancys would be out in force, finding something wrong with the way that the Cowboys won. "Delhomme gave it to us" blah blah blah. Yet the Cardinals are world beaters.

I slightly disagree. The playoff win would have done wonders for the psyche of this board...at least until tomorrow. ;)

Word, do the Titans also lack heart? I do think a lot of people on this board are expecting the Giants/Eagles winner to be super Bowl bound. They aren't putting much stock in the Cardinals despite the win.

the difference between the cowboys is they have a real head coach in whisenhunt.

they have real receivers in fitz, bouldin, breaston and urban.

they have a complete team who wants to win.

not a bunch of "look at me" players.

Playing with heart is overrated. If you don't think 98% of these players don't play with heart, unless the season is over, then we're foolish.

Nothing to do with heart, but it has everything to do with not making stupid mental mistakes, execution, talent/ability, and this is for the coaching staff, being PREPARED!

So keep thinking that trips with your girlfriend before a playoff game, talking trash in the media, arguing with other team mates, etc... Keep thinking that's the reason teams lose.

Great post. Cardinals are playing inspired ball though, have to give them that. But they are in a horrible division - in fact, both Wests are atrocious.
