The disconnect between our Offense and Defense

Offensively last night we schemed to run the football all night like we have a "Top 5" defense. To our credit the running game was a thing of beauty to watch last night, Murray and Romo looked sharp and we've really improved our run blocking. The problem is we can't stop anybody and this is the right game plan with this horrific defense. If we expected a track meet...then we didn't show up schematically on the offensive front and that's on Callahan and JG. We should've came out with the intention to match them score for score (put up 50) and try to make the difference up with turnovers and special teams. Instead we did the opposite and ran the ball down their throats and once we got behind, we were screwed because NO adjustments were put in for this. We schemed for a 28-17 game, with no adjustment package.

How is that possible? If we are going to use that offensive game plan, why don't we have the "Denver" package ready in case we fall behind a few scores? I guess we don't believe in "Adjustments" it's more of a stubborn let's "Stay The Course" attitude. Great Job guys.

What bothers me is how they change their offensive attack from game to game to anticipate something. This offenses has the personnel and ability that it should be looking to score every single play. Approach EVERY game like it is a track meet and try to run up 50 on them.

Playing a ball control style is great, but we don't have that type of team. So stop trying to change your offensive identity every week.

The perfect example of this was our first possession in the 3rd quarter. Harris gets us a nice return to Chicago's 47 followed by a 5 yard on 1st down by Randle which put us at CHI 42 yd line. We are down 13 pts and its 2nd and 5, and we called a run that got us 1 yard. I have no problem with the run play IF you plan on going for it on 4th down. Our offense is not good enough to give us just one pass attempt for a first down. The defense hasnt been able to stop them all night, and we give Romo one shot to keep the chains moving.

Like clockwork, Garrett decides to punt and they drive 90 yds for a TD to put the game away. Knowing we were in a track meet and we pass the ball one time really shows the conservative approach that has killed this team for years, and hopefully it costs Garrett his job.

We should have the Denver package everynight, like Denver has it's Denver package everynight. You make teams adjust to you out of fear, not the other way around.
