This video underscores why we seemingly can't win with our current coaching staff. We face the Packers 4 times in the past 2 seasons and don't adapt to something they do differently from the whole league. If they block differently, you have to rush differently. Vikings coaches seem to understand that. You won't beat them with more effort.

It's like our coaches are saying, just try harder and execute and you'll eventually win your matchups. No. You need more than that to beat the better teams in this league. That's why you can't get this Rodgers guy off the field at the end of the game and his legend grows at your expense...

Makes me hate them more. More piss at the coaching staff by not looking at how the Vikings neutralize it. Typically Cowboys they straight clueless.

story of Garrett's Career so far. Stuck in the past and not noticing or adjusting to the new ways things are being done in TODAY'S NFL.

IDK what we do at half times, by the way, we come out after having a good first half and lay a egg. All those signs point to coaching. The other teams make adjustments we do nothing.

The only way to do away with this holding technique is if the Cowboys started implementing it into their scheme.

Exactly its amazing how the packers got called for not one holding penalty. Bet if we did that type of blocking we would be called for a NFL Record in holding penalties. I mean some of those I don't see how the refs missed it. I guess they are too busy watching and making sure nobody lays a finger on Aaron Rodgers unless he has the ball in his hand.

What this screams to me is how fatally flawed the NFL game is. If they start calling holding holding then more flags, more delays, less offense, injured QBs, less viewers, less sponsors, less revenue...
Reminds me of the Jordan dilemma the NBA had...call him for defensive fouls, traveling, or let anyone interfere with his performance by playing defense....less interest in NBA which was already dwindling...and less revenue. So instead they just let the game be sacrificed to where it is almost unwatchable.

The question for us is why can't our coaches figure this stuff out and exploit it?

I remember two calls going against Frederick this year, that make those by Bulaga, look like blatant holds. The narrator in this video says "as long as they're face to face with the defender while using this new hold technique" the refs will not penalize. Yeah right! That's exactly the way Frederick was blocking!!!

More like if you're wearing green and yellow, and using this technique, you will not be called for holding. Smh

They are also not built to face that kind of technique. The Vikings have Linval Joseph who can get push inside and Griffin who has a pretty good bull rush.

Power is what works, not speed. Speed is practically useless if they hug and hold which they will.

The Cowboys quite simply are too weak inside at the DTs to generate the inside pressure needed.

They are consumed with, probably because they are taught, with edge rushing, not interior rushing.

There is a reason why Irving has been the most active lineman against them and mostly from the inside.

I'd be curious as too how long G.Bay has been "perfecting" this technique......vrs. how long it took the Vikings (team in their division/ Zimmer) to learn how to combat it............

as the You Tube author states, the Vikings are doing things that negate it............did Atlanta adapt that quick during the playoff game? They got after Rogers hard.....or did the refs throw a early flag and set the tone vrs games with Dallas.

With the Size and athletism of Tron and Lael....that hands out/ hug would be huge. Hands out like a b.ball defender helps slide and footwork. With their arm/hand strength it would shut down outside rushers....

but yes......Dallas would get flagged.

Agree with this. For some reason this organization ignores the middle of the defense especially up front.

Most of the replays I saw I don't think were holding. But the one at the 10:35 mark was clearly a hold. Lawrence beat Bulaga and Bulaga put a good ole Johnny Weaver Lock on him.
