This is a game where you predict not only the position picked but the total number of picks. The Cowboys currently have 10 picks set up as follows:

1 - 1
2 - 1
3 - 1
4 - 3
5 - 2
6 - 1
7 - 1

4 of those are comp picks but are not prohibited to be traded as in the past. So everything is available for a move up or down or future picks.

Here's how this will be scored and you can only have one post that I will count and I will start from the last prediction post and work my way back so if you would note that your last one is your FINAL, that will help. I realize we can't go back and edit so I will just take your last one as your entry. It would help if you only put your prediction in the post and not start any discussions as there are more potential players on the Zone than DC.com where I did this last year.

The draft categories are: QB, RB, OL, WR, TE, DL, LB, DB, P and PK. The DL, OL and secondary are combined so you do not have to stipulate the specific position for those. And this is about the current position of the player drafted, not where he might end up.

Points are awarded as follows:

Correct # of picks executed 10 points
Exact # of trades 10 points
Pick correctly between trade up, down or stay in the 1st 10 points
Correct prediction of the positions taken 1 - 7 10 points per correct prediction

Perfect score is 100 points. Easy to play because you do not have to pick the actual player or even the rounds, it is just picks 1-7 and the other criteria. I am not going beyond 7 picks because that evens the playing field should they give up some of those in trades. I cannot see them going less than 7.

Deadline is 3pm Central time on April 26, day 1 of the draft.

I will post the winner and their score and the next 4 runners up and theirs by Monday following the end of the draft. We had fun with this last year and this year is even more intriguing with 10 picks and in that mid round 1 "anything can happen" slot at 19. Plus we have an "anything can happen" GM. Tie breaker was going to be pick the number of draft picks injured, suspension prone or incarcerated and due for parole by camp but I decided that if we have a tie, those tied will predict the number of picks that make the team. Still tied, pick the players that made it.

If your predictions are all screwed up, please do not blame your gracious scorekeeper, blame the FO as we always do. I, as always, am on your side.

Actually, the draft is set up like this

1-1 (19)
2-1 (50)
3-1 (81)
4-2 (116, 137)
5-1 (171)
6-3 (192, 193, 208)
7-1 (236)

Also, if you include the Cowboys/Raiders trade of (Jamize Olawale + pick 173) in exchange for (pick 192), the Cowboys have ALREADY consummated one trade of draft picks.

It's OK Coach, but this is serious stuff. You need to leave the beer in the fridge & open the bottle already.

True but now you've alerted all the other players and erased what might have been an edge for you because most would not have considered that one, including me. I wasn't going to count this one because I was thinking closer to the draft but technically, you are correct and this should be included. I want to keep this on the up and up, not that I would be, I'd cheat like a base runner against a blind pitcher, but the integrity of The Draft Game cannot be called into question. As Techsass said, this is serious business.

5 posts and not one of them a prediction, I am on a roll, as usual.

LOL. Now I'm really going to get technical on you. And yes, I know I'm giving up my edge. The Cowboys actually had 11 picks in this draft, not 10. But technically speaking, their Cowboys traded 5th round pick (#157) to the NY Jets for the rights to pick #191 in the 2017 draft, which they used to pick S Xavier Woods.

So, there are already TWO trades the Cowboys have made for this upcoming draft.
  1. Pick #19
  2. Pick #50
  3. Pick #81
  4. Pick #116
  5. Pick #137
  6. Pick #157 - traded to Jets for 2017 Pick #191 - S Xavier Woods
  7. Pick #171
  8. Pick #173 - traded to Raiders for pick #192 & FB Jamize Olawale
  9. Pick #193
  10. Pick #208
  11. Pick #236
I assume, according to your rules, Xavier Woods counts among the Top 7 picks, so I'm claiming my points right now for a Safety being drafted with one of the Cowboys top 7 picks.

I asked the judge and he said no, that was a previous draft pick and only applies to last season. The judge, whom I know well, as also requested that you stop getting technical with the Game master as that is his weakness. All of his screwdrivers have "Use This End" on them.

I'm confused, but at my age that ain't nothin new.
What are you confused about? I will attempt to make it clearer but I am probably older than you. This is all Jumbo's fault for getting all technical, isn't it? He likes to do that, he's so persnickety.

Did anyone else get turned on?

So I can disregard Jumbo's input?

He must be a young whippersnapper with too much time on his hands. Give him a shovel and set him to work cleaning a barn. That'll settle him down a might.

I'm 60 with a country boy brain.

Except you can regard his post about the trade already taking place and include that in your trade prediction.

I tried to keep this simple as we played this on the old DC.com site last year and it was a lot easier than playing the Mock Draft game because not everyone follows college ball that closely. This season, with 10 picks, it gets a little more fun to predict the trades because the likelihood of Booger standing pat and taking all 10 picks in those slots is not high and I don't blame him, that's what makes the draft fun with the wheelin' and dealin' and we've always got that additional twist with Booger letting his friend help him do the pickin', Johnnie Walker.

(19) DL
(50) trade with #137 to move up to 45. OL
