Just when you thought it was safe to come back to the forum, it strikes. Dangle your feet too deep in this thread and it'll gitchya.

This isn't the first one, oh Lawdy have mercy no, but this is the best must win thread so far in the season until that "win or they're out game" comes and hopefully, that's later than sooner.

With the schedule behind this Eagles game and the likes of MIN, CHI, DET, BUF, NE, LAR and PHL again and I wouldn't sleep on the Giants either, lose this game and be behind the division leading Eagles and I don't have much optimism for overcoming that. Win this game and I have a little more but not much.

They say "winning cures everything" and for once, I agree. Since I don't know what the real problems are with this team other than injuries to key players, a win isn't cathartic, it's season saving.....at least temporarily.

And it's not just going one up on the Eagles or stopping the skid but the one thing guaranteed to wreck a Cowboys season......the dreaded distraction.

That has already begun with the Garrett future guessing in the media, the blame solely on him and rumor of Riley hiding in the Rowdy suit on Sunday night. They are primed to go all out because we know nothing sells like Cowboys confusion.

There's two things I know about a Garrett team, they cannot overcome distractions but they can pull his butt out of the fire and that will be necessary to keep these players focused on the games at hand and this season and not who the future coach is and there's also this other little "event" hanging out there that would send this forum into a spiraling nightmare because some of you are holding onto that "Garrett gets his ticket punched on the 3:10 to Yuma" as the only bright spot of the season.

What happened when Landry was under fire by the media and fans in the papers? A new 10 year contract and Schramm shut that down promptly. If you think this GM isn't capable of that, think again. He's already defended him and had his son go one step further so the stamp of approval is already there. Lose this game and it gets crazy in the media and it would not surprise me for them to announce Garrett's extension during the bye. That's also the perfect time to stay relevant and dominate the sports news. And have they not been hinting since the criticism started after the Jets game?

So, my friends, this game might just be the must win game of the last 10 years because if I am right, we're going to need trauma teams brought into this forum for some posters if the Cowboys lose this game.

BTW, this Riley talk might be with Booger's cooperation. Back when AR was interviewing for a HC, the AD let Les Miles name get mentioned and Miles got a new contract and all the while they were hiring Bielema and Miles had no intention of leaving. Booger might be helping out his bud and cementing the relationship for the future.

More like a must lose game to get Garrett fired. This is all a part of his little scheme. He’s going to find a way to (unfortunately) win this game. JJ will be impressed and will keep him for a few more weeks. We’ll lose a couple more, maybe beat the Eagles again and go to the playoffs as an 8-8 team. We’re gonna get stomped in the wildcard game but JJ will say something along the lines of this: “Jason turned this team around. They were stuck in a rut a few times this season, but I’m proud of our coaching staff and what they’ve done with this team.” Ultimately leading Jason to getting extended, and the fans letting out an extended sigh and an extended noose to hang up in their rooms.

lets be honest, lets kill this right now. there are no "must win games" Let me explain. in order for there to be must win games you must need a goal to win something. No one believes or even dreams this F/O has any desire to win anything. If you still do, at this point there is no getting through to you. For teams that want to win the SB or at least show improvement they have goals, our goal is play the games, fill the stadium, go home. The stadium makes JJ tons of money year round he no longer needs the Cowboys for that. This is a playground, nothing more.

There is no urgency, there is no goals ok, deal with it. If JJ wants to waste our number 1 on another buy, hes going to do that, winning anything meaningful is not going to happen.

SS, kudos for the attempt but you are just one of many to take me to task on "Must Win" games. However, your approach is new and refreshing but no cigar, as long as I draw breath, "Must Win" games live with me.

Just this morning Booger is on the radio again singing the praises of what they have invested in Garrett and what a peach he is. AC, they do not have any intention of not re-signing him. The difference is if he wins, they can wait. If they lose and it gets too hot and too much TV chin boogie about Garrett's future, Booger can end all of that with one announcement and the bye week was made for just such a thing.

I hope your right, but from our experience of how this team and JJ handles themselves, I wouldn’t count on it just yet. Garrett’s days here are are numbered if we lose next week, which is why it’s a must lose game.

I think this is JG last year here unless it’s a SB. When games got harder I think he took back some of the Offense from Moore. Seeing more of the base JG Offense. Moore wasn’t going to bring in a whole new Offense but some of these last games looks a lot like last year.

We'll see but I do not see it that way, the Joneses are going out of their way to show support in interviews since the losing streak, that's by design. They're setting up the fandom and the % of posters here wanting him fired does not represent the general fandom.

I don't think many here consider the non football side of this enough. Garrett projects the image they want and is more like family, understands Booger's need for the spotlight and his wife is Booger's daughter's best friend. What has Booger shown us about what family means to him? Hell, he had a bungling son learning on the job and he still can't get it right, Booger takes care of family.

At this point I feel this team has real coaching, talent and scheme deficiencies that I don’t believe this coaching staff has the ability to overcome

Therefore whether we beat Philly or not , I have little faith we will make noise in the playoffs so I’m watching and hoping for wins but not expecting anything great as long as Garrett and Marinelli/Richard are here

therefore this is not a must win game for me because even if we win, it’ll be good for a week or 2 then back to the same garbage

There are 16 "must win" games in the regular season. If a team wins enough of those games, then they make the play-offs. That is usually between 9 to 12 wins depending on the division.

I will put this Sunday in the "must win" of the "must-win" games since it is a division opponent and essentially a win not only puts a team one up, but also gives an enormous advantage in the head-to-head tiebreaker scenario. Dallas desperately need this win limping into the bye like a wounded animal.

Dallas should ask D-Law, J-Smith and Zeke for their salary back to reimburse fans for their foolish investments in tickets, jersey's and NFL game passes. Pass the lighter fluid.

glimm, you are looking at this from the football perspective, think Booger is? He's all about the business and entertainment aspect and surrounding himself with family and Garrett and his family are family.

If he doesn't extend Garrett, I will have a lot of crow to eat but I've never believed for one instant that he would not be extended. If this were another team with a real GM and not a patriarch, I would agree with you but it isn't. There's not another sports franchise like this one and conventional football thinking just doesn't apply. This is the quintessential family run business.

This is a Sunday night game so it cant be a runaway must be kept close to ensure maximum viewing audience so this could actually help us . The refs may have to take our side for a while anyway .

The league has already decided who they want to win and the officials will make it happen . After the Eagles lost the Cowboys had to lose so this Sunday night game would be bigger with both teams at 3-3 and attract more viewers .

None of this is even close to real anymore its a league wide farce that is being escalated every year . But hey wrestling has a big viewing audience so why cant football with a predetermined outcome

First of all the stadium doesn't even make enough money to pay for the electric bill. That's not what's making Jerry money I stopped reading after that

I feel like the team is about to implode.

I really don't think they care and the non-emotional robot will have this team lacking any sense of awareness.

I know he's brought the Cowboys back in the past but I get the feeling this time that it's over and the players just don't care.

This team is worried about contracts and what endorsement deal they will get and how flashy they can dress on the airplane.

Football isn't on their mind.

While statistically this is not a must win game, if we lose this game this season is officially on life support or suicide watch as the case may be. We lose this one and you are going to see the world start coming unglued.
