Trade down w/ New England, get picks 17 and 33.

17. J.J. Watt, DE, Wisconsin
33. Gabe Carimi, OT, Wisconsin
40. Aaron Williams, CB/S, Texas
71. Will Rackley, G, Lehigh
110. Johnny Patrick, CB, Louisville
143. Nate Irving, ILB, NC State
176. Alex Green, RB, Hawai'i
220. Chris Neild, NT, WVU
252. David Mims, OT, Virginia Union

Well, I'd be ok with it... but Carimi isn't going to be there at 33.

Watt would be a big plus on the DL, and if Ryan plans on playing a good bit of four man lines and 46 defense, then Watt would have a chance to make an impact for us.

If we play a lot of base 34, then Watt would just be a solid player like Spears was, IMO.

I do like Rackley a lot.

Why you all keep hurting me by leaving Kenrick Ellis out of your mocks, I'll never know, but I'd be pretty pleased with this draft. :)

I'd love this draft..

I thought all you did was hate..who knew you actually had some good thoughts lol ;)

I'd love it, only problem is the 1st 3 guys you have taken will all be gone before you have them going.

Watt at 17 isn't unrealistic
Williams at 40 isn't unrealistic either
Carimi at 33 is a bit of a stretch

Well it wasn't personal.:eek::

Figured since I already picked Watt high it'd be smarter to spend the 3rd on a guard.

I think one of the Tackles will still be there at 33, just chose Carimi for this because he has the most questions about his ability to play LT and because I like him the most haha.

I forgot to add that I also believe NE is our most likely trade partner..I also have the parameters of the trade the same, 9 for 17 and 33...very well done.

I'm convinced NE would not give up 17 and 33 for anything less that the #6 pick.

What is the difference between 6 and 9 if the guy you are targeting is available?

If you're going to trade up, you wouldn't wait to see if the player you want drops to 9, you'd get him at 6.

This an honest question:
When has NE ever traded UP in the 1st round.
I thought it was clear that their organiziational philosophy was to either stay put or trade down in the 1st and maybe up for later round...all in an effort to get players from the late 1st round down to the late 3rd round.

This is where they think they have a big advantage over other teams in talent evaluation, and this is where they think they get great value.

I'm just not sure tha Belichick has traded up into the top 10.

They do have the ammo to do it though.

Right, NE has a significantly smaller draft board than most. They may only have 10-12 players they are looking at in the first round, period.

They look at players that are compatible with their system. You know, minimal character issues, versatility to play several positions, willing to view secret tapes on the other teams defensive and offensive signals.

There is no question that this is and has been NEs strategy over the years. However, it is just about everyones opinion that what NE is missing are game changers..with a plethora of picks, they now have the ability to acquire some..whether or not NE agrees with the general public on this matter is a different story.

It takes two to tango..If Cleveland isn't willing to trade down then what is NE going to do?

If Dallas is the first trade partner for NE, then we would be giving up our 1st and 3rd for their #17 and #33.

You don't know that..the trade chart is obsolete these days..nobody knows exactly what the trade parameters would be

Don't think that it's obsolete. It's at least a starting point. NE sure isn't going to get taken in a trade, they usually come out with the better end of the deal in points.

I don't mean to argue with you, don't misunderstand.

I think the trade chart has some flaws in it. It is a bizarre point drop from one to the next as it stands now. A better solution is 5% point drop from pick 1 to pick 2, 5% drop from pick 2 to pick 3, and so on, is a much more realistic system.

No worries..your opinion is just as valid as mine..the reality is, nobody, myself included, really has any idea
