So, I've always been interested in the myriad facemasks used over the years in the NFL. They became mandatory for any players entering into the league after 1958, with the players who entered prior to 58 able to choose whether they wore them or not. By the mid 1960s, every player in the league had at least a one bar facemask, and from then, the evolution of face protection took off:
They've gotten quite elaborate over the years...
