The extra 1/2 second to pass

I will give credit where credit is due. In drafting Frederick and signing Waters (and now with Leary as a starter), Jerry Jones has done more than just pay lip service to giving Romo that extra 1/2 second in the pocket to pass. As Cris Collinsworth noted on Sunday Night, Romo said that last year on 4 of 5 dropbacks he got pressure. No more, it seems. With a stout interior offensive line, and Romo's ability to step up from any outside pressure, I think Romo is going to be a much more comfortable and confident passer this year. And I think that, along with an improved running game, should cut down on the game-killing mistakes he's had in the past. I guess we'll see starting Sunday against Dontari Poe, Tyson Jackson, & Mike Devito.

Now he just stands around with that 1,000 yard stare. Hopefully somebody tells him to either pick a target or throw it away...

Yeah 49 passes w 70 percent complete. Took only two sacks and one fluke pick. Seriously if you're just gonna blindly spew.

I agree. I know he always wants to make a play and I admire him for that. IMO he is one of the best at extending a play after the line has collapsed and making something out of what looked like disaster. But it is ok the throw the ball away too and I am hoping that is something he will continue to work on.

Those two sacks happened to be back to back on 2nd and 3rd down in the 4th quarter right after the Giants had pulled within 6 points. I can't fault him for the first one because he had no time at all. But the second one he had time to hit murry in the flat or throw it away. You can't take a 11 yard sack on 3rd and 18 waiting for something to open up down the field deep in your own territory. That one could have come back and bit us. I also have no Idea why they would even call a play like that on 3rd and 18??

This maybe stupid but, do you think he needs to get used to having so much time in the pocket? Maybe his internal clock is playing tricks on him.

I don't think that's stupid at all. It almost seemed in the preseason at times that he was distract after 2.2s when the protection held up. I bet it's something where it takes his internal clock several games to adjust, if, in fact, he does end up with more time.

I'd rather he take the sack than throw an INT.

So throwing into the flat on 3rd and 18 is a smart choice? Throws to the flat (esp on 3rd down) are actually some of the most dangerous passes..good decision Romo.

The Commanders can attest to this .... unfortunately, more than once.

I am not trying to bash Romo. I agree a sack is better than a INT. But on that particular play if you go back and watch it. That sack is all on him. He had time to either throw it away or dump it off to murray who was open and waiving his arms. There is a big difference between 4th and 29 as compared to 4th and 18 or 4th and 10(assuming Murray gets at least 8 yards). That's 20 yards of field position your giving up on 4th down deep in your own territory. You don't want your punter in that situation punting from his own end zone.

This. I'm not jumping to early season conclusions, but holy guac, someone has to fix this, whether it's Romo and the receivers aren't on the same page or Romo is just testing limits, he HAS to get that ball out his hands

I'm as big a Romo fan as you'll find and I totally agree with what you said. I think the extra time is something he is not used to and he absolutely needed to get rid of the ball on that last sack. My biggest issue with Romo is that he doesn't often throw the ball away or just take off and run at times. He is great at extending plays and making incredible throws but I wish he would just run or toss the ball away occasionally.

By the way, those who feel Romo fans think he does "nothing wrong" please take note of this post. I think he's a great QB but those are areas in which I think he could improve.

I'll repeat for the fact impaired: 51 dropbacks - 2 sacks. Over 98 percent of the time Romo "got the ball out of his hands".
