refresh my memory, how many titles did the Fab 5 win and how many did the Uncle Toms win?

It is tough to win a national championship. A lot of things have to come together to even play in one much less win one. It would be overly critical to fault the Fab Five for never winning a national championship; however, they never won a conference title, either.

I was at that 1993 game between UNC (34-4) and Michigan (31-5) . Get this, I was sitting inthe 8th row at about the foul line behind Nick Nolte and beside Jerry Tarkanian! LOL

As a UNC grad, I was out of mind happy to see the Heels win it. But if it were a best of 7 series, my guess is that Michigan would have won.

Dean Smith just out-coached Fisher.

BTW, the Webber TO got way too much press. People act like Uof M had the lead and he blew it and gave Carolina free throws to win it. UNC was winning, time was running out, Webber was trapped in a double team far away from the hoop. Some poeple on the bench yelled for him to calla timeout, he panicked, and did. But the game was lost anyway.

Bottomline is it almost always seems to take a little luck to win 6 in a row in that tourney.

He shouldn't have to call a TO since he traveled when he first got the ball. I never cared for the Fab 5 mainly due to Webber. He just seemed very lazy. He just kind of half ***** jogged up the court unless he knew he was going to get the ball.

Yeah, he clearly traveled. Even the Michigan guys all said that on the documentary.

Webber was a very good pro, but I always viewed him as a fairly selfish.

He was very skilled though--great inside and out and good passer too.

And you know what? He's right. Whether the Grant Hills of the world (and I would classify myself more Grant Hill than Jalen Rose) want to admit it or not, that is still the perception within the black community.
The problem is the perception is just not reality IMO. Jalen Rose even admitted that he doesn't feel that way now. If you are the producer of the documentary, and you realize the perception that is out there, then why intentionally feed into the perception, when it's not something that you believe?

That's what makes me think that he's being less than honest when he says it's not how he feels any more.

Two reasons:

1. Because the documentary was about the Fab Five, which he played for as a young man, not as a more matur man represented by the NBA commentator for ESPN.

2. Because documentaries, books and other written or produced pieces you're trying to market has to possess a little controversy. The "Uncle Tom" comment generates controversy, which markets the documentary.

So I believe Jalen Rose was being honest, but I also believe he was trying to market his documentary. Do you (I'm speaking in general and not specific to "you") really think we'd be talking about the Fab Five documentary as much if it didn't include that controversial comment? I doubt it.

Then he deserves whatever flack he catches. If you're going to sell out your personal beliefs to get notoriety. I have seen the clip of him making the comment a number of times, though I haven't seen the whole documentary. His demeanor looks like he's intending to insult. He pauses, but he doesn't hesitate, you know what I mean? He's emphasizing it, rather than coming off as unsure about saying it.

I don't even think the comment makes sense. "Uncle Tom" isn't defined as someone who is "well to do" is it? Was thinking it's more referring to someone who defers to people of another race, or is not proud of their own race.
