Micah was as every much part of that, if not more.

Maybe, yeah.

In a way he and Jerry were peas in a pod, but it was also probably the downfall of things.

Regardless, the team needed the resources they got for him more than they needed him alone. The deal works in my mind even if GB wins more than Dallas does over his career.

That's what the trade and subsequent offseason decisions essentially brought with the money Micah wanted.

And it provided the depth to make the Osa trade possible that brought Barham.

It may be early, but this has shades of the Herschel Walker trade about it.

Best offseason roster management we've seen around here in a long, long time.

Seems right but the jury is still out really. If Micah helps get the Packers to the SB or something and wrecks the game, it's going to feel like a disaster. That's a BIG if though. If Micah goes on to have a rash of injuries for the next few years or is not the same player after the last set of injuries, we easily won the trade..

Which would not have been as huge had Jerry signed him after Year 3. $34M was the going rate then. The same $34M we tried to trade for in Crosby. Conveniently forgotten and Micah's eventual pay exaggerated every time this trade is mentioned.

People hated Micah once it was time for him to get paid so I understand the absolute need to back the front office here, just like they would in contract negotiations. But to excuse Jerry's emotion-over-business episode that cost us value and pretending "this was the plan all along" is convenient. If we can break even it'll be lucked into once again. Same as getting Micah himself and now Downs.

Very possible but the attempt should have been made at the time to get him extended, and if Micah wasn’t willing to agree to the market rate that would have been the time to deal him.

Let me say that this is revionist history crap lol.


It was a small minority on this site that actually said the trade was ok at the time.

Now everyone is saying “I never wanted to sign him” lol.

I was fine with the trade but both things can be true.

Trading Micah was a mistake.
The timing was a mistake.
It made our team worse.
We conceded a year.

What they deserve credit for is making the best out of a messed up situation that they created.

But they had no plan and they wanted to keep Micah they traded him because your GM feelings got hurt and they skinned the narrative that they can sign so many more guys now and all they did was was bring back questionable players like Osa, Bland and Ferg…and trade for a questionable edge in Gary.

Yeah I thought he meant assistants but I for sure remember Wade and then I think Garrett might’ve went 5-3 or something….

The argument is they couldn’t afford Quinnen if Micah is here. Do I believe that? No. But we know their argument is they like their guys and I don’t see them treading for Quinnen if Micah was here. They would’ve drafted a nose.
