I peruse a few websites to see what's going on with different teams as I'm sure a lot of posters on here do, but I believe we take the cake. If the FO goes out and signs a few FA's then for some of us we automatically overspent, if we do nothing then this FO don't want to win. I know some just few life in general as a negative so some of it has to be taken with a grain of salt.

I know a few of us have been around this team since day 1 so we know this is not the first dry spell we've been through...nor will it be the last...that's what parity has brought us all.

The only way the front office looks good is if we sign every free agent on every fan's wish list for below market value. And if they don't, it is the front office's fault that the player wanted to play for a team that would pay them market value.

And to be clear, I don't agree with this, but it is how the average "fan" thinks.

I know Jerry was flamed over the Nnamdi deal, but JJ had a deal at fair market value, he can't help it that the foolish eagles FO decided to overpay him by 20M...not much JJ could do on that.

I like to equate some of CZ's antics with basic accounting/finance.

They want to get players at their own book value when they're only going to sign for market value.

It will never change.

I learned that. No matter what you say or do, people will always be stuck in their way, until proven wrong. Even then they will still find some negative to point at.

Half the people talking negative wouldn't really know how to run a football team anyways. They sit back, watch TV..watch Espn/youtube highlights..and scream "we should get such and such. Trust me!"

It won't change.

I am not a fan of big free agency spending . Very , very few of the big money free agents play to the level that they are paid . The lower and middle level free agents can offer value . Much rather have a good scouting department and good drafts , then pay to keep your own players . If I was GM , I would have to have bodyguards . I would tick fans off daily .

Point me to a similar 16 year "dry spell" in our team history.

I didn't read anywhere in his post that there has been a 16 year dry spell before. He said dry spells and there have been those, no?

Yes...

Most people believe this, but it's not true. In fact if you carefully go back over the past 18 yrs of FA, you'll find the exact opposite to be the case.

Especially when it comes to signing younger FAs.

It's just easier to remember the ones that don't work out.

Except accountants and finance types are going to go on historical contracts and the like nad not just pull numbers from nothing like we get here all the time.

No, the proof is in the pudding. What the FO needs to do is demonstrate that they know how to put together a contending team and, until then, everything they do will be wrong. I don't think 'dry spell' quite captures the length and breadth of it...

They can win by making good decisions and improving the team. Winning ballgames changes everything but in the meantime people will complain because thats what people for the most part do.

Last offseason we brought in Smith, Murray and the year before saw Dez, Lee and Lissemore. Hit on a oline or two and have Carter contribute, have another strong draft and that will go along way.

Our pro scouting has been good as the guys that we brought in like Elam, Robinson and Fiametta were good pickups. Lets evaluate well again and bring in vets that can help the team.

Hopefully the team is properly motivated to take to Woicik during the offseason and hopefull detail guys like Eberflus, Henderson, Callahan, and Robinson can maximize our talent during minicamps.

The Front Office needs to draft and develop players better, that should be the only agenda they have. Get the right players and get the right coaches to develop them. Stop blowing entire draft classes because you want to get cute and move up and down the draft board collecting 6th and 7th round picks that never turn into starting players. Until that happens this front office will be criticized...

He said there have been dry spells before. But there hasn't been anything like the current one.

This isn't a cycle. It isn't bad luck. It isn't a product of parity. It's a football team being fake GMed by it's owner. Our past under sane ownership doesn't apply.

That would be the right way to build a team. But you have to be able to draft to do it. When you whiff on so many picks, FA becomes a necessary evil.
