This year is one of probably at least 4 more seasons with Dak (if not more). I was of the mind to blow the team up before signing him to a long extension. My main thought process was that while I thought he was a respectable and good QB, he was going to be difficult to build around (knowing the pieces needed to help the offense and defense, and the front office needed to do the job).

I was very surprised that the team got so much better defensively by the hire of a new coach and completely overhauling the defensive personnel. 12-5 is a major improvement but this team is only consistent in its inconsistency. That said, I can definitely see the Cowboys winning the NFC East again this coming season with the lack of true challengers within the division. I can also see them taking a half or full step back with the enormous amount of turnover that is about to happen (and it sounds like coaches and players will be switching teams).

The biggest positive that I can see is the relative dearth of top level young QB’s that the NFC has compared to the AFC. It seems the best young QB’s all reside in the AFC unless you are sold on Kyler Murray. This might continue for a period of years and allow the Cowboys a much easier path in the postseason (unless Tom Brady and Aaron Rodgers just keep playing).

I can easily see 10-11 wins next season if the division does not significantly improve and the Cowboys manage to keep a few key free agents and have a great draft. I would not be that surprised with 7-9 wins though if they lose the bulk of the key free agents and only have a decent draft.

The starting positions that I believe need to be addressed (I’ll leave out QB because the point is moot) in no particular order are:
1. Starting defensive tackles (at least one if not both)
2. At least two LB’s
3. Defensive end (at least one)
4. At least one safety
5. Seven or eight cornerbacks (kidding, this one looks okay currently)
6. Offensive tackles (at least one)
7. Offensive guard (at least one)
8. Center (could definitely upgrade)
9. WR (at least one)
10. Tight End (at least one)
11. Running Backs (at least one)
12. Kicker and Punter

Lots of turnover obviously, and that could have a tremendous effect on wins/losses. I have zero excitement for a super bowl during the next 3 years, but I can see hosting 3 straight playoff games and pretending they are better than they are. Gonna be some good mundane times Cowboy’s fans!

Sign Anger. If he will take a descent contract. We have rookies that didn’t get much of a chance.

Corner is good..
O-Line needs about 2 starters. And rookies step up. Williams is gone.
DT for real.
Parsons will play both again so.
We need a good LB. Cox will be back.
Sign or draft a safety.
Kickers we will find
Losing some talent but we will hopefully get 3 starters from the draft. Hope we get a gem in later rounds.

Yeah, it’s funny but Parsons playing both positions means the Cowboys need 2 starting part time position players. Should be interesting to see how they approach filling in defensively this time, especially if Dan Quinn leaves.

In 4 years Jerry is very likely not above ground anymore. Being real here. Jerry is working with a much faster time frame than we are. He has said it many times if we listen. I am 75% sure MM will be fired and many changes made. Dak not being one of them. Hes not the Big issue.

If Jerry wants to win fast...fire MM and bring another veteran QB . Dak won't be able to do it alone

Eagles have stated Hurts is their man, so even with 3 first round picks they won't be competitive with us. We'll be 5-1 or 6-0 in the East, probably 5-6 or 4-7 outside, and win the division again. And another first round disappointment. Rodgers and Brady will be playing as long as Dak, so we're not getting a break there. But this team is a long way from worrying about beating any of the top teams without Brady and Rodgers.

I would get a descent LB. Cox is coming back but we need depth. Let Gregory walk and put Parson at DE and let him hunt..

We cannot really assess the 2022 season without first knowing who will be on the team in 2022. As of now, the Cowboys are about $13 million over the CAP. This number includes the 2021 CAP carryover, but only includes 42 players. The have to add 9 more salaries to their existing liabilities of $225 million. So effectively, they are really about $25 million over the CAP.

They can restructure some contracts and maybe trade or cut Cooper to get under and create room to sign a few guys but how much of that will they be willing to do. The guys they will restructure or extend may be guys they want to cut loose in another year or two. One of the restructuring targets might be Dak whose CAP number is $34.5 million in 2022. But any significant restructure of Dak's contract means they almost have to re-sign him after 2024. Right now I am not willing to make that commitment. Maybe if he doesn't soil the bed in 2022 I might change my mind.

With 21 free agents of their own to sign, or let go, figuring out how many games they can win next year is just guessing.

Thought this thread was about Frankie valli and the 4 seasons...lol

DUDE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! QB should be at the top of your list. Have you looked at next year's schedule, this organization isn't going to have a winning record next year with the TEN TOE SLOTH sitting in the pocket! The Sloth is too slow reading defenses and finding open receivers & TEs. Don't let me get started on the running game, it's because of the Sloth's SLOW abilities that the running game has all but disappeared. The league has broken-down the Sloth's ability to play QB and they've all come to the conclusion that the Sloth is mediocre at best and dare the Sloth to throw the dam ball by loading the box with ELEVEN PLAYERS, that's right ELEVEN PLAYERS and when you have 5 on 11 guess who's going to win the battle at the line of scrimmage??????? Since the Sloth refuses to throw the ball to anyone with a star on their helmet it's being reported that the Cowboys are releasing every player with ball catching skills because there's no need for them if the Sloth won't throw the ball to a receiver or TE even when they're WIDE OPEN. Until the Sloth is kicked to the curb the Boys aren't going to be relevant anytime soon.

Four seasons? Nice hotels....

We need to first assess who will be the HC and OC/DC. Its a big deal.

Right now, its the offseason for Dallas. We need to get it right. Mike M has 2 go, every tea leaf we read is telling us this...and even JJ see's it. Turn turn turn the page Jerry, on MM and lets fix this.
