The Fun Factor

I don't post a lot on the forum, but I felt I needed to say something after last night's wild game.

First - does anyone remember a time when they were excited about our offense? I was pissed when Joe mentioned not many teams have a play for 3rd and 13, and that's when it it me. The Cowboys with Bledsoe don't. Parcells isn't even willing to roll the dice with him and trust him to make a play. We ran a draw and punted.

Second - Bledsoe isn't making reads. You don't have to be a coach to see Bledsoe's staring at one receiver and then his dump off (when he makes it that far). I don't know what happened to him these last few games but he definitely is not going through his progressions. I think Parcells has been willing to let it go for a while to see if he righted the ship but Bledsoe fell apart last night. When Romo came in last night at the start of the second half, I looked at my wife (a rabid Commanders fan....go figure) and said,"let the games begin."

Third - The defense doesn't know how to blitz. It has to be coaching since we haven't known how to blitz since Haley left. Our guys run all in a pack and lock up on a blocker and stop. We do not know how to charge the gaos and fight free and that's our problem. The line also doesn't run many stunts so the OL doesn't have to think much, making the entire battle just a physical competition.

Fouth and most important - the fun factor. When Romo came in, the ball started flying around, the defense moved off the line of scrimmage, and life was restored to our O. No matter how bad Favre plays some games, don't you wish we had a gunslinger in there so any play could be a touchdown? Don't you wish we would think pass first on first and goal instead of run 2 times and pass on third down? Don't you wish we had a play for 3rd and 13 instead of the draw? I do! And last night it was a lot of fun watching Romo spread the ball, even if some of the receivers were Giants. I hope we keep playing this way for the rest of the season so i can enjoy some exciting offense again. Maybe Parcells will even allow him to adlib a little...wh00t! All Cowboys fans should rally behind Romo and let's just hope he starts to recognize our receivers from all the defenders on the field!

Go Cowboys!

I was thinking about the fun factor last night. Romo is a Jake Plummer/Favre type of player.

This may not be a popular opinion, but if Dallas is going to lose, being entertained watching it does soothe things over a little.

Remember Kevin Sweeney came into a game against the Giants in 1988 and I at least, felt this same excitement. I hope Romo is at least better than Sweeney.

Losing is never fun. Never. There was no fun factor in last night's game - Any fun that was had was quickly ripped away by another bonehead mistake.

Yipee this is going to be fun... Loss to Carolina, Loss to Washington, Win @ Arizona, Loss to Colts, Win against TB, Loss to NYFG, Loss to NO, Loss to Atlanta, Loss to Eagles, win against detroit.

No kidding. That was the worst, most embarrassing game this franchise has played in years. We had everything set up for a big game on national TV and we couldn't have failed more miserably -- both players and coaches.

I agree with Steve Young when he said that this was a night when we saw a sea change with this organization. Last night we quite likely saw the beginning of the end of Parcells' time here.

Basically, there was nothing good about last night.

Losing is never fun for me either!

Perhaps last night needed to happen to spur the change that is needed to right the ship.

The status quo hasn't been getting it done against quality teams! Perhaps now the head coach on down are seen under a more realistic light.

I'm not saying Romo's the answer! Bledsoe certainly was/is not taking us to the Super Bowl! He just is making too many mistakes, and always has, against good teams.

The team is consistently making too many mental errors - penalties, turnovers, missed blocks... For it not to be corrected by now... Coaching takes the hit for that!!!

There's a lot of talent here thanks to Parcells and JJ; this offseason should be the time, imo, to bring some fresh coaching ideas in. This bunch sure ain't getting it done!!!

Well I will say this for Romo - he keeps his eyes open while he scrambles at least. He will have to learn to throw it away instead of taking the sack, but Bledsoe never did so I can live with that for awhile.

You play the game to win. You don't play the game to have fun not in the pro sorry. Losing sucks
