For the last several years, Felix Jones has always been that other guy that runs the football.

In college, at Arkansas, Jones was the backup to Darren McFadden and in his rookie season, Jones was just the new guy who was playing behind Marion Barber.

As a rookie, Jones started off slow, like most rookies do, but then he started make plays and playing some dynamic football.

Then he got hurt.

Now as Jones fully recovers from his injury, he is once again in tip top shape and ready to make a huge impact, not only for the Cowboys, but an impact the entire NFL may feel.

Currently, the Cowboys and Offensive Coordinator Jason Garrett are possibly planning on making Jones the starting running back, which many disagree with, but using Jones' speed and elusiveness to wear out defenses will only help the team once they bring in Marion Barber to be the closer he once was and excelled at when Julius Jones was still with the Cowboys.

Whether or not, the move to make Jones the starter actually happens, the fact of the matter is that Jones explosive running style is going to tear up defenses in the upcoming season.

Remember in 2008 when the Cowboys played the Packers at Lambeau Field?

Jones took the handoff 60 yards to the endzone without barely getting touched and breaking a sweet.

That is what will be seen throughout the 2009 season, and with a full compliment of backs in the Cowboys arsenal (including Tashard Choice), there is no reason that Jones will run out of gas during games. A good rotation will keep him fresh until the final whistle.

Opposing teams beware, Jones will run the ball on you, and he will make your linebackers and defensive backs look silly.

2009 is going to be the year of Felix Jones for the Dallas Cowboys!

I think him getting 15-18 touches and MBIII returning to his previous role is a smart move. Only question is can Felix hold up? It's worth finding out cuz the dude is a playmaker.

despite the rave reviews

we're not even taking into account Felix's dangerous potential getting the football in his hands in the open field

Um, his first carry was a touchdown and his second was almost one. Credibility lost.

Yeah, but Felix ran for 60 yards without breaking a "sweet"!

Bleacher report is a joke.

beat me to the kickoff return haha

this bleacherreport is a friggin joke.

Felix Jones does need to "start" I think, just getting more touches and in a different order. Garrett knows that he is on the hot seat, as every coach is ever year. He knows that the offense can pick up the slack from TO by pounding the rock utilizing the trio and marty and witten on the field at the same time.

I am very eager to see the new offense this year. Not to mention what Tashard did in December last year against 4 playoff teams. Our backfield is so money

15-18 might be a little much for him UNLESS you are including his kick returns (including punt). Personally, I think he's one of those guys that should get about 8-10 carries and 2-3 receptions a game. Average those out and he ends up with at least 130 carries and around 35 catches. And, with his talent, those 130 carries could easily go for around 700+ yards and on those 35 catches - I'm thinking he has a YPC like a WR (around 12-13 ypc) - he should be able to get another 400+ yards. When all is said and done next year, I think he should EASILY have over 2000 all purpose yards. That's what he is - a Reggie Bush clone that can actually play RB (since Bush has proven that, on this level, he can't).

He split carries in college, so I'm not worried about him being 'fresh'.

My only worry was his speed wouldn't translate in the NFL, I'm no longer worried after watching him effortlessly blow by guys. Every time he got the ball in space it seemed like he was going to break one.

I'd really like to see garrett try to get felix the ball in the open field. Whether it's throwing to him in the flat, middle screens, releases, etc it doesn't matter.

I believe about 10 touches a game would be great, he could be a dynamic playmaker if garrett can use him properly.

The only back i'm confident can carry to full load on this team is Choice, that's not saying he's the best i just think he's the best suited for that role

I would love to see Felix get a shot at it though and i would love to see Barber back in his old role

Uh started off slow? The guy scored a TD on his forst NFL carry. With the exception of the Washington game he scored a TD in every game he was given playing time. This reporter is a ******.
