Regardless how they spend the money, they had more problems with Dez than they thought he was worth. They could've offered to cut his salary but even if Dez had agreed, he still would've been unhappy and it would've further affected his game which was already declining.
Another thing I think was a factor, they had said they were going to make the offense more Dak friendly. Dez never matched up with Dak like he did with the gun slinger, but he was still always in Dak's face wanting the ball. Dak will be better off without him. Especially if they get a WR that can run routes.

And Dez did have an attitude problem. Michael Irvin attested to it. He was fighting with Garrett and Dez's so-called Garrett guys. Dez even admitted that much. He pretty much brought this on himself. It was a combination of things and together they added up to more than the Cowboys wanted to deal with, and I can't say I blame them.

This is it right here. He was a hinderence.

It's just like playing a pickup game of street basketball. There's always that brash talented player. Whose jawing so much and battling and going hard, spaced out in isolation, going at the other man one on one. Sometimes they get so caught up they forget to pass. If your on his team you stop hustling because he won' pass it.

You find yourself just watching .

They are so focused and driven (with a profound amount of anger that clouds thier judgement, they feed off the anger, its toxic) so now not only are you watching. You have to listen to his obnoxious mouth

We've all been there

The whole game is about him. That's what and who Dez is. Emotional to a fault. The player is so good and you can't deny his talent, but you would rather not be on his team in fact you wish he was on another team. If the king of productive emotional drive (Irvin) attests to it , then your emotions are of the toxic variety

That's what this whole Dez situation is about. They wanted him on another team.

I accept that I understand that. I am 100% certain it is time to move on. The Future is wide open.

But just don't tell me that man can't still ball out. He is still talented and has alot of football left. Who knows maybe this will humble him in some way. The Cowboys organization and Dez are going in seperate directions. But I am sure there will be success for all.

Is it going to sting watching Dez's highlights this year? Of course it will. But there won' be any regrets because Dak will come into his own. And I believe his progression will be multiplied by not having Dez around. It's called piece of mind. ( have you ever read Shakesphere while listening to the Ting Yang twins? It' kinda hard to focus and concentrate)

Mike Irvin was the hardest working player on 3 Super Bowl teams.

In the past 8 years the Long Snapper has watched more film and has had more intense workouts than Dez.

In fact I've heard Dez can't even make it through Jerry Junior's workout routine...

It’s almost comical the levels you go to to hate a 29 year old man you’ve never met. You must be a blast.

To me, both Dez and Dak were not on the same page of music. Their harmony was hit and miss...but one can not build a dynasty on mismatch.

The team is smack dabbed in the middle of a roster build. Now was the time to get the final touches on a future involving the cap. That and a number of good players were stacking up for their own contract renewals. That costs cap space to retain quality players.

We all understand the need for quality on the roster. Since the team has committed at better results in the draft, that serves as a buffer for roster rotation...when a veteran no longer meets production/cost projections.

Dak is now the leader of this team...and he can't be second fiddle to a receiver - Dez. Since the ground work is for this to be Dak's team, something had to give...with Dez's low production marks over three years and no quality role with Dak - provided the impetus for change.

Respect for the past or not, Dez just didn't measure up.

When I was a Javelina, a Little All American, and ex-GI, on our team once told me that even though he was an All American and a Senior, he still had to be ready because a Freshman could still come in and take his job away. Well, that applies to the NFL and did with Dez.

Enjoyed watching, but his time on the Cowboys arrived. Good luck guy...

Oh wow, another stupid Dez thread.
Really thought people would be over this by now

They wanted to move on from Dez, and now he is gone, but yet here we are, they keep on wanting to talk about him.
ven last year, Promo threads weren't this bad.

You hit on the issue I believe and well said.

THis is more accurate. Dez doesn't fit Dak's style. Dez is a jump ball-style of WR. I think that the receivers that we have now fit Dak's needs at WR. It's why I think a guy like Keenam or Rivers would be better suited getting Dez on their team. He needs a more traditional-style QB like those two to succeed. It's why Dez was good with Romo.

It's also why I'm excited to see who we get in the draft. I had long been asking for a more traditional WCO since that is what this team is better playing as. Dez isn't exactly a WCO-style WR. Hurns is. I think a guy like Cedrick Wilson will be. Our OC is a WCO-minded coach, and the team we have fits that mentality more. Now, if we can just use the WCO, I think we'll like what our offense becomes. I think the future is bright now because of this. We have a team that now completely fits the WCO-style, and that is a good system to have if you can use it.

Don't know what this has to do with the future being wide open. Unless it's some kind of play on words that we now have a wide receiver opening.
