I don't think its crazy at all. Any team with a young QB that needs developed probably should probably be interested in a guy like McCarthy. It would also be a nice safe hire for a franchise that needs some stability after rolling the dice on 1st time HCs.

Exactly. I'm not a huge McCarthy guy, but he is solid and he did get the guys to play hard. Giants need a good hire here and at least he's a known quantity.
