The above is not a joke. I picked up a 4 pack of blades when I bought the razor. They were $15.00. But they do live up to their billing.

They'll get dull and I'll be hesitant to replace them and then it will start to hurt.

I'll stick with disposables, which last just as long as replacement blades.

Has anyone ever had this type of "straight razor" shave in a barber shop? Was always too chicken to try it.

I've heard a true shave with a straight blade takes a good amount of time.

There are multiple steps, a few different towels and often times a few different passes.

I've also heard that a good number of barbers don't do them anymore because they just aren't profitable enough.

I have great success with the gilette disposables. I've had two mach3's, and the fusion, and the disposables actually worked better.

I have rough facial hair and a thick beard, i think the extra blades would snag my hair/give me ingrowns.

I don't have the money for expensive shaving products, but the Neutrogena shave cream, the 3 blade disposable gilette, a Nivea aftershave, and a product called Tend Skin, and I always have a smooth shave with absolutely no irritation.

No matter what I used, I always had irritation on my neck area. I'd shave with the grain and tried different things, never worked. I follow up with Tend Skin after my aftershave I don't have any irritation at all. Thing is a miracle worker.

If you shave in the shower your whiskers will already be softened by the hot water. It's so much easier and quicker. I don't know why everyone doesn't do it.

I use a Panasonic wet/dry shaver in the shower that shaves me better than any blade I've ever used. Here's a tip for you blade shavers if you want your blades to stay sharper longer spray them with some cooking spray after every shave.
