Toomer, and Steve Smith as their number 2 options. We dont need 2 number 1s to win it all just a nice young speedster who can fill in for Glenn if he is out.Draft a WR.At least for this season.Next year we get another number 1 to replace T.O. or when he retires.

I would take Toomer or Smith over Crayton anyday.

One of the young guys (Hurd, Austin or Stanback) needs to make a big move this training camp.

I agree. I don't know why people think I should have faith in any of them yet. Hope is one thing, faith is another. It doesn't look like Jerry has any faith in them since he has admitted he's looking for a vet. Why should I?

we need superstars at every position cause this team is a bunch of mental midgets

I agree. I'd take Crayton over Toomer any day all day. Steve Smith is another question.....

I think Jones wants that instant production (vet WR). It could still happen from someone we have now, it just doesn't seem as likely this time of year.

Toomer is one hell of a player. You are not giving him enough credit.

the other thing, if williams and reeves were not defending toomer and smith the giants dont get out of Dallas.

You know something we don't know about T.O.?

I'm not a Romo basher, but from what I watched, Manning makes up his mind a lot quicker than Romo with his reads, and maybe that's because no one's ever opened because no one's any good on the other WR side, and Crayton is slow.

I hope that we can get a receiver that can actually kick *** over there.

Sometimes the longshot pays off.

That doesn't make it your best bet in every race. ;)

He is one Roy Williams hit from retirement.

Good thing for Toomer that Roy rarely delivers big hits anymore.

Noone should take the Giants improbable run to the super bowl last year as a blueprint for anything. Unless that anything is stockpiling fantastic defensive linemen. Their run was too improbable for anyone to say "Yes - this is the way we should do it."

Agreed

There is no recipe for building a Super Bowl team with Eli at QB.

There was one piece that is a good blueprint -- playing all out every damn game rather than resting.

Tony Dungy agrees. Or not?

That's something else altogether. I think this thread is just speaking from a how to build your team standpoint. Generally, it's a good idea to emulate super bowl winners. Not this year, though.

Ya, but he's also 100 years old.

Toomer has over 600 career catches. Steve Smith was injured most of the year, but was very good in the playoffs. Also, maybe I'm alone in this thinking, but I consider NY winning it all a fluke. I think there were at least 5 teams better than they were last season.

Crayton is an average WR who had one monster game, but averaged like 35 yds a game otherwise. Glenn is - at best - unreliable. There's no way you can count on him to play at a high level for an entire season.

I'm all for drafting a WR and hoping he makes an impact, provided we can't trade for a good veteran. What they can't do is stand pat at WR and expect it to work out. TO staying healthy at 34, unproven youngsters, Glenn's knee...there's just too many big ifs with the WRs to not adress it in some significant way.
