The good and the bad

Let's start with the good.

- Small sample size, but Awuzie looked very good. Hope his hammy isn't something that dogs him for his career.

- Hitchens had a really nice game. He's a guy you have to bring back next year for special teams and the fact he's a very good LB to have who can fill in multiple roles, etc. Although that doesn't mean I still don't draft or sign LBs to upgrade the position.

- That's a depleted DL, but the OL played a pretty complete game after some early issues. Really wore down the Skins front.

- If Jones isn't going to make plays at S, then yeah, maybe Frazier starting makes sense. Frazier can at least tackle. I thought he played a great game.

The bad.

- Jones is just not a good S. His tackling is atrocious at times. If I have to watch him try to tackle a guy buy his shoulder pads I might lose it.

- Dak still had some struggles, especially early. But he seemed to get better as the game went on and was down to only 8 workable knuckles.

- Playcalling is still suspect. A perfect example of that was a play Sturm and others pointed out. It was a key third and three and the Skins went full man and loaded the LOS and there was no defenders in the middle. Cowboys ran a play where all the receivers basically worked routes OUTSIDE the hashes. There wasn't anyone in the middle. Now maybe that's Prescott's fault for not changing plays or maybe it's a WR fault for not making a line adjustment or maybe it's just bad coaching. I don't know. But those are situations you see the really good teams exploit and we just seemingly can't take advantage of situations like that.

- I've always been a decent Scandrick fan but I think I've seen enough. It might be time for some more turnover in the secondary this offseason, starting with Scandrick (although I don't think we save a ton on the cap by dumping him).

Nice win but it doesn't change my mind on Garrett and this staff. Even somehow squeaking into the playoffs wouldn't change my mind. Basically, he needs to do one of two things IMO to get me to think he deserves he 2019 season.......... win the NFC or at the very least get into the playoffs and knock Philly out.

Scandrick isn't for long. They added two nice cornerbacks last draft. Probably 1 or 2 more this draft. It'll be better next year barring any injury situation.

I really think Byron is better suited for cornerback.

Our inept coaches probably made a mistake trying to turn him into a safety.

Byron, has the size, speed and natural athletic ability to play corner.

He should be moved to corner.

Then we have Awuzie, Lewis and Byron at corner. And draft some REAL safeties. No more projects at safety. An actual safety prospect.

Yep. Brown is your 4th CB. I can live with him in that role.

Did you notice that run play that bounced to the outside and up the field...Byron came up fast to square up but because he’s such a poor form tackler he ran into the RB chest-to-chest and got bowled over backwards when your average safety would have blown the ball carrier up. It’s on the nfl.com extended game highlights.

Byron got beat on a near perfect throw. Again, how many other catches were against him? 2.

And this is a team that lives off the deep ball passing and likes to get big plays from Vernon Davis.

I seriously don't know what games you guys watch when it comes to Byron and it's obvious you don't watch All-22 during the week.

Scandrick OTOH, put in another bad performance. Awuzie was very good. Woods wasn't. Frazier had his best game of his career (he's usually a whiffed tackling machine) and Jaylon Smith just put in his second good game in a row and is starting to look like a NFL starting MIKE.

But in the end, it's a lousy Skins team that is badly depleted with injuries so I'm rather nonplussed about the victory other than we beat the Skins.

Like Romo pretty much owned the Giants it seems like Dak pretty much owns the skins. Which is good.

Jones. I really think he is definitely better at CB but he needs his butt kicked as regards tackling.

And absolutely we need to bite the bullet and find a TOP FS PROSPECT. Jerry's aversion to going after a top safety in the draft is like marrineli's aversion to getting a real 1 Tech. Both hurt our team.

The good....we won
The bad....Garrett is still the coach
Isn't it amazing how when the Dallas Morning News prints an article about Garrett and the coaching staff being on the "hot seat", all of a sudden the coaches actually get the team prepared to play......it's a miracle I tell ya............they should be fired for that alone.

He's horrendous. Bite the bullet, put him at CB and hope he finds a home there. Let Frazier play S and look to upgrade S in the offseason.

Jones isn't a safety. He's a horrendous tackler back there and he gets beat more than you claim. He's been a pet cat of yours for awhile so you tend to overlook his mistakes or minimize them. I thought he was a great pick myself but as time has worn on, he's simply not a very good S. He lacks real ball skills to play back there.

And note again, his best plays aren't when he's playing safety........... his best plays are when he's basically locked up man with a TE, essentially playing CB.

Also note, it was reported during the game, he got benched for a short stretch.
