is that there really isn't any bad news.

Of course, those that wanted Garrett fired didn't get their wish but he didn't get extended so there is that.

Remember those years when we had more players up than money to keep them? Not so this year, we've got space to keep the key players and maybe even shop for a starter or two. I can still recall the sting of seeing #94 in another uniform, saddest sight next to seeing #33 in that same uniform.

And some will lament that a rookie OC is in charge but that is neither good nor bad news, that is unknown at this time so we are allowed to remain positive until proven otherwise.

What's that? No 1st round pick, that is only bad news because we can't discuss that but we can noodle around on trading up. If not into the 1st, higher in the 2nd. And anyone thinking spending that 1st on Cooper was wrong should feel that's good news because we could have spent that 1st on a rookie WR because that's what we would have done because without Cooper, we would have our 1st and it would probably be a top 10.

But the best news is that our team did something few Cowboys teams have done in recent history and that should give us a really positive outlook on this season. Down 3-5 and every fork in this forum solidly planting in their butts, they turned the season. I know we are disappointed at the Rams loss but other than the Colts, what other fandom got the ride we got?

Young team with a pretty solid drafting history over the last 5 with the nucleus of a possible Doomsday III on the cusp of forming and I can't think of anything bad about that. They stumbled in LA but they learned from that as well. More talent on our D than in the past 20 seasons.

My friends and fellow Forumizers, we all have the choice right now whether to be up or down about this upcoming season. But I have seen enough evidence to get my Optimeter needle all in the positive on this season and this team. They did that the old fashioned way, they earned it.

Garret deserves an extension. He built and coached the team the right way. There is one Bellichik and he is not coming out of NE.

Well bless you for being positive. I hope we have a successful year.
I try to be on the positive side unless there is evidence to the contrary and while some will cite Garrett still being here, that is the same guy that brought them back from 3-5 but some do not want to give him credit for that. S'ok, I know they're fed up with him but why complain about him?

The secret to handling frustration lies in understanding when you are the driver and when you are the passenger.

Negative. It's obvious Sean Peyton is coming here .

The roster still needs work, but overall it's still pretty good.

But the HC does nothing schematically to help the team win. If fact, he's a liability.

That's a problem.

We're good enough for regular season play, coaching is not prepared for the level of play we need in the playoffs.
I have zero confidence Garrett knows what it takes.

Good news is this is probably the best shape the team has been in headed to the off-season. Not a lot of hoes to fill and we have the $$ to do something in FA.

I think fans need to temper their hopes of a big free agency haul.

That's not who we are anymore. It's been that way since signing Brandon Carr and it's not going to change.

The cap room the team has will mostly go to in-house players like Lawrence and Cooper.

...and that is fine since we're generally in good shape, but we are in the position to add a few key players to round out this roster.

Might surprise us if there's one for the OL. That might be need #1 for FA's and they need starter quality, not a backup.

Forgot one.

Fred beard returning.

Before yesterday's game, I might have agreed with you but seeing excellent coaching on display yesterday, I can't help but feel that we will be in most games but when it matters most, our coach is going to fail.

But will he be 100%, that's why I left that one off but if he is, that's great news. He was missed far more than we think.
I think it’s more likely than not that he returns. But even a 80% Fred is probably better than 90% of the league.

Agreed.

A record breaking season avoiding collapse after 3-5 start which was franchise worst record to overcome and make the playoffs.
