...while Dallas can relish what follows after winning, a win they made considerably tougher than it needed to be, one can't deny that the team continues to flirt with disaster. Today there was good, there was bad and then there was ugly...
The good?
1. Tashard Choice scampering for 92 yards and a touchdown, inspite of Garrett's reluctance to use him in the face of an obviously less than 100 percent Marion Barber.
2. Miles "career day" Austin starts with a whimper and finishes with a banging 250 yds and 2 td's.
3. Romo "the reliable" returns, going 20-34 for 351 and 2 td's...and with no picks...imagine that!
4. The "troublesome trifecta" of Ware, Brooking and Ratliff...these guys are and were difference makers today...simply outstanding with pressures, sacks, blocks and tackles!
The bad?
1. Alan "let em convert" Ball makes the doghouse with a less than intelligent decision to hit rather than tackle on 3rd and 26...
2. The secondary let's down yet again in the waning minutes of a ballgame...in fairness, they are without Sensabaugh and both Newman and Jenkins were dinged late in the game...
3. 13 penalites for 90 yds...drawing particular ire is the defensive line, which could'nt find the neutral zone on consecutive plays...
The ugly?
1. Flozell "the sieve" Adams...sorry big fella but your days in Dallas are numbered. Any injuries on the offensive line could cause further mayhem in the passing game...Adams has become a serious liability, not to mention a penalty machine, and the Cowboys should be urgently drawing up contingencies where he's concerned. He was beat like a drum today.
2. Wade "the enabler/excuse-maker" Phillips...a man who seems content only with winning, not coaching...he's losing his players.
3. Jason "full of myself" Garrett...still out-thinking himself, particularly where the running game is concerned...he's part of the problem with the offense because he refuses to be part of some simple solutions
==========
The Cowboys got their stay of execution today but it will be shortlived once teams with real potency on offense line up across from them.
I draw little inspiration or consolation from today's near debacle. This team continues to have key people asleep at the switch and until someone gets a boot up their butt i'm afraid we will be witnesses to similar outings as the season progresses.
