The Good, The Bad, and The Ugly

The Good - Um ok now where did that come from? So all of a sudden the Cowboys wanna play football. They made fools out of a lot of us yesterday including me who said that the Cowboys would get embarrassed by the Rams but it was the Cowboys who embarrassed the Rams. They pretty much dominated on both sides of the ball with a punishing run game and the defense that went from missing a club record 19 tackles last week to maybe one or two yesterday. They were able to nullify Aaron Donald and Gurley was a non factor in the run game. New kicker Horbath makes all three field-goal attempts look easy. Sean Lee played out off his mind yesterday his best game in a couple of years. Most importantly no significant injuries so they'll go to Philadelphia pretty healthy.

The Bad - Horbath what the hell dude! You come in and your first kickoff goes out of bounds followed by another later on in the game? Cowboys win the toss and the officials don't hear Prescott say that they will defer to the second half? When I heard that the Cowboys would be kicking off the start the game and the second half I was like only the Cowboys could screw up the coin toss but the NFL and New York did the right thing and got it right thank God! Although the Cowboys got a couple of sacks the D-lineman didn't record any.

The Ugly - Not much here because the Cowboys played really well yesterday but Micheal Bennett is really pissing me off with all these offside penalties. He cost the Cowboys a turnover, a touchdown, and a two-point conversion all on the same possession. Bennett has more offside penalties than sacks and he leads the team in offside penalties and he's only played a hand full of games with the Cowboys. It's a good thing the Cowboys were blowing them out because he could have cost the Cowboys a win if it was close.

The kickoffs he was hooking for some reason. First one I thought could of been jitters but the one later on I didn't get.

Oh well. First game in for us he nails all the XPs and FGs. Good enough for me.

You pretty much covered the good, the bad and the ugly. However the BEST thing they did yesterday was that they relied on their strength and ran the football.

There was a lot of good yesterday. Tackling, blocking, effort were all much improved over the last two weeks.

I agree, the bad was the pass rush. For the most part, Goff had a lot of time to throw the football. Its a good thing he was pretty terrible yesterday. But I was watching Quinn a lot yesterday and I know he got one holding called against him, but it could have been a lot more. He was uncharacteristically rushing into the tackle and it caught the tackle off guard a few times, leading to holds. I've been waiting for Quinn to try something besides that looping outside pass rush. By the end of the game, the Rams were double teaming Quinn. It makes me wonder again, where is Demarcus Lawrence?

As for the Ugly, I think Bennett's penalties were all ugly. That stuff is really bush league. Lining up offsides twice on one drive leading to a ast down after a failed 4th down attempt and a second chance at a 2 point conversion? It doesn;t get worse than that, does it?

Bang bang assessment CoachD. It was great watching the General out there dissecting that offense. I understand LVE is the young stud and future, but Sean Lee was a beast out there! He looked like an old warrior, all bloodied up and still balling! I also enjoyed old man Witten showing us he isn't done yet either!
As for Bennet, I like what he brings up front, but jeez louis, he kept linning up wrong even after Garret got on him. Saw him take a small hop back a few times just at the last second which surely would have been called. I would like to see better d on those screen plays, but not much more to criticize. By all accounts, this was a great game for the boys. Can we do again next week is the BIG?
