All comes down to the phrase Bill Parcells said: He doesn't buy the groceries.

In Dallas, the shopper is Jerry Jones.

Let's look at the Denver Broncos. They took a massive cap hit by getting rid of Russell Wilson. Broncos
are still getting hit by this dead cap space.

Jerry could have landed Sean Payton but passed.
Look at the Broncos now. #1 seed in the AFC.

Let's take at look at the LA Rams. They won the their Superbowl, had to strip it down because so many high salaries and after a few short years, like the Broncos, they are the #1 seed in NFC.

Meanwhile, the dry desert of Dallas, where this franchise hasn't sniffed a NFC Conference game in 30 years, the prior mentioned teams torn things down and rebuilt their franchises in 10 years and sooner.

Jerry would rather not win any playoff games than win a Super Bowl that would give someone else credit. The Cowboys is Jerry. This is Al Davis’s Raiders with a son that will make the franchise even worse when Jerry leaves. The Vegas Raiders are our future.

Jerry thinks he's taking all the opinions he gets and making an informed decision when drafting. Problem is, he's got too many cooks in the kitchen of which keeps things in mass confusion. We need a group of 3 guys that are picking, sorting out who we add. Jerry gets too cautious is the problem.

There is no plan in Dallas.

We're drafting high-character guys to build a culture... until George Pickens is available.
We don't need a DT in free agency... until we panic and trade for Big Q.
We want to extend Micah... oh wait, he pissed the owner off, now we're trading him a week before kickoff.
We're a man defense... no wait, my friend just showed up on the coaching market, we're now a zone defense.

Dallas is ran by a demented narcissist who reacts in the spur of the moment. And who would prefer to die without seeing an NFC Championship for decades and decades, rather than hand over control to someone with a plan.

Jerry Jones is the type of shopper who would show you his burlap sack if you asked him, "Paper or plastic?"

Jerry wants to be "The Guy" getting credit.
Any big name coach would take away from that, or have standards, so they are not really considered.

Dallas doesn't shop in March, either, so it's just a halfass attempt to build a winner.

the only thing they are good at, is being attention starved addicts.Get ready to have the Pickens contract dragged out.

I gave a like, but you didn't include Jerry Jones as the master chef Gordon Ramsey would have an aneurysm yelling at.

Come on, you guys were one more win away before claiming Jerry had finally found it. LMAO. You know it's true, don't try to deny it. Robert and Arthur had already gotten their Super Bowl tickets. :p

Jerry’s strategy is wrong for today’s nfl.

What you highlighted is perfect example of

So many fans on this board and Jerry and Stephen are constantly talking about the cap the cap the cap the cap.

It’s total bullcrap.

The broncos have massive dead cap from a bad QB contract.

The rams went “all in” won a Super Bowl. Had one down year to clear cap space and are now true contenders again

Eagles do the same.

Lions pay all their talented players.

Even “cap hell” when it happens lasts for like one season, maybe two. And then you’re back at it.

The nfl cap is more flexible than people think.

It’s total BS. The jones’ are just cheap.

Mahomes isn't mahomes without a good cast of characters around him. Look no further than this year.
Ummm have to disagree somewhat, even Brady didn’t win EVERY year but clearly elevated the team and won multiple rings.

Mahomes has proven he’s elite because even when his supporting cast is banged up or underperforming, he doesn’t make his team worse. He may not be perfect, but he elevates the players around him, keeps drives alive, and consistently gives his team a chance to win.

Dak, by contrast, needs everything perfect — top WRs, clean O-line, a tuned system — otherwise the “magic” disappears. That’s why you see Mahomes survive chaos and Dak struggle when the margins tighten.

Fact > feelings. Mahomes improves his team; Dak just relies on his team to carry him.

He's elite but still needs a offensive line. We see what he is without one. Now he's out for the year , maybe half of next. Trenches matter alot. We have stars at the skill positions but over hyped talent on the offensive line. No talent on the back 7.

Amen ! Raiders, like the Cowboys, have been destroyed from within

Absolutely, trenches matter—every QB does better with protection and weapons. But that’s exactly why Mahomes stands out: even when his line falters or skill players are missing, he keeps the team competitive. He doesn’t suddenly become a liability under pressure. That’s what separates an elite QB from a ‘timing-and-support’ QB like Dak

Well of course. I figured it was obvious.
It may be just a matter of differing opinion. I think it is possible to remove cook #1 (Jed Clampitt) and cook #2 (Jethro Bodine) only, and this current front office would automatically be better than it is now at constructing a championship competing team. Will McClay included.

Significantly better? Perhaps not. Better? Yeah.

Why? Because subtracting those two from the decision-making process would likely make the front office on down run more intuitively and more innovative. A bonus would be an organization that did not have the Clampitts overshadowing everything, which would create a positive shift within the internal cultural climate.

So, I would agree with 'too many cooks' equaling just those two. Or those two only comprise 90% of the cooks involved.

Great points and we both know even if Jerry hired Sean Peyton, he would emasculate him and strip him of most of his power as an NFL head coach. Jerry would have hired the staff for Peyton and made a mockery of the Dallas "figure head" hc position. Every coach knows that Dallas is where you go to watch your head coaching career die and there are a lot of hc tombstones the past three decades.
