What is it about some of the other, more successful, team builders that separates them from the Cowboys? How does Belichick view his team after a SB win? How did Rams management view their team after a sparkling debut by their boy wonder HC? How about the Chiefs and Saints?

Anyone building a team has to be half empty glass bent and more focused on how far away they are instead of how close. Does that fit the Cowboys?

Excuses will be made, the season called a resounding success after starting out 3-5, the HC extended and players resigned and once again the pitchman will spin his yarns because the half full glass is nothing more than his own stamp of approval on his job.

This is a team managed by people that thought they could take a young mid level QB into the season with those WR's and got lucky with a crazy HC in Oakland or this season would have gone down the tubes.

It was a good and surprising season and the Cowboys do have some fine young players that could be part of something special, if management is careful in who they extend or re-sign and what they pay them.

And I would start that process tomorrow morning with Lawrence and check his soul locker for QB's during crunch time, the latter part of the season, and Jones with how many picks this guy brings to the table. Do not pay elite money to non elite players.

Every half empty glass GM is looking at his team with completely different eyes than the Cowboys. Mainly because they have jobs on the line. They're paid to be better, not good enough, and this front office is all about good enough. Good enough is happy just to have something in the glass.

We are what we are.

We have owners who wouldn’t be a GM or VP anywhere else , a HC who wouldn’t have been a HC this soon anywhere else and a QB who’d be a backup most places.

The Bar has been lowered here. Amazing we field as competitive team as we do. We can’t compare our unique situation to others.

A half full glass is about all we can hope for:)

The rest of the league (about 24 other teams this year)should be ashamed they can’t field a better team than this dysfunctional organization.

Garrett could have been a HC in ATL or BAL before DAL.

We can compare this unique situation but that is an exercise in futility but I do know one thing for sure. I should have been excited about that playoff game last night, I even picked us to win, but I sat there with no emotion, no passion and I do not know if that's just due to the passage of time or the time with this locally owned and operated family business but I do know the true meaning of "it is what it is".

We made the playoffs in 14, 16 and 18 ... no playoffs in 19.

Dak should have ran more and we'll see what happens next season

Exactly where I was and have been for years. I felt the same way in 2016 even though we were the #1 seed.

I would not be surprised.
Seeing Jerry finally pull the trigger on JG after signing him to a lucrative long term contract after this season would almost be delicious
But of course I would much rather see them shock me and win it all so I would have to eat crow

Very very much how I feel. Years ago I would have been excited the whole day leading up to the game. There would have been passion, excitement. anticipation. There was only a fleeting moment last night where I was excited. After Cooper's TD I had hope and some expectation.
It was short lived.
Seeing how the Rams were gashing our d-line I knew it wouldn't last. The rest of the game was just more of the same old same old. I don't get as excited about football or the Cowboys like I used to. It's a noticeable change in me over the last 2-3 years.

I detached my emotion years ago. I still watch cheering and booing along the way but it’s not the same when expectations aren’t the same because you’re sitting there waiting to see how we’re going to lose instead of finding a way to win.

And why this game didn’t hurt nor did I feel failure or much disappointment. At least not compared to some of these other divisional round losses when we were actually more favored to win.

I certainly didn’t and don’t see this 2018 team as a Final 4 team. Certainly not like I have the Rams or Saints.

And that’s the bottom line. How can we consider this a Final 4 team? We didn’t present that notion throughout the season. Yes, on one Thursday nite game we looked like a true contender but we should know a team has to replicate that thru a season.

It’s only natural to get caught up in the hoopla but it’s also important to be able to calmly sit back and reflect as I think you have accurately on the state of this franchise and current team. You get what it is.

I truly believe this team surpassed or at least met its potential and capability this year which provides some hope moving forward. Almost the hope level we had after 2016. But not as much as we had after 2014. But each year is on its own merit as rosters churn, schedules change, injuries occur and other teams do a better job than we do.

When I look around the league we simply from top to bottom don’t place ourselves in that position to succeed and why the bar has been lowered and this “glass ceiling” as another member used might be about as good as it gets.

That fan mentality is deserving of detaching emotions much like you would anyone or anything that you feel is limited in reaching higher goals . It doesn’t mean it’s not possible just not as likely.

The Cowboys are like family we’ll always cheer on hoping for the best but like a family member that won’t listen to better reasoning determined to do it their way. So, we simply take a step back and hope for the best without the emotional investment we’d normally have.

the problem with this organization is that the owner only fires people when his JWB glass is half-full....

yes, I will always be a Cowboys fan
yes, I am severely disappointed right now but happy that they at least made the final 8
No, I don't think JJ cares
No, I don't think Garrett will leave in favor of a forward-thinking HC

it is my hope that Dallas can hire a legit OC that knows how to move the ball and score and hire KR as DC - let those two decide whom to keep on their staff and make the personnel decisions (although, I think I would like Colombo to stay)
No, I don't see any of that happening (maybe Richard, but not the rest)

I felt differently about the talent level of this team and felt the coaching let them down. Some team and obviously it will not be the Cowboys are going to figure out that if you disguise your look on D and then switch once the play clock hits 14 seconds or less you have a shot to actually make the Rams think on the field ugh. This small change would of made a big difference with little effort by the coaching staff IMO. Oh well, what could of been... I hope Philly gives NO a good game not because I like the eagles but because I want them to get a worse draft pick than the boys in the second and following rounds. Looking forward to progress in the weight room by Connor Williams, along with the WR's, I feel Beasley has suited up his last game for us and will miss his spirited play.
