I don't know how much stock you guys have put into this, but I am assuming most of you have a pretty good understanding...In roughly 8 hours, at the conclusion of tonight's game, someone (probably multiple people) will be on the chopping block. Either John Fox and Jake Delhomme are going to be under extreme pressure and close to their way out in Carolina or if we lose the same goes for Phillips and Romo. Now by no means do I believe that Romo will be a goner if we lose tonight, but he will get it like he has never gotten it before if we lose tonight.

If you thought last week was bad for Romo, a loss tonight, will take it to another level. Now do not get this twisted, I am 100% behind Tony Romo as our QB, win or lose tonight, but if this team starts out 1-2, I am sure there will be rumblings at least concerning our head coach. Regardless of the outcome tonight, someone will be under the gun. Tonight's game is big, for everyone involved. LET'S GO COWBOYS!

I think Romo is almost in a no-win situation tonight.

If he wins, it'll turn out to not be a big game.

If he loses...

I agree at least in the eyes of some. For Tony and the Cowboys a win is a big thing right now. Fans can take wins for granted NFL teams can't. For Dallas avoiding back to back loses at home is big and getting the taste of a disappointing loss out of their mouth is big.

Cowboys are 2-5 in their last seven games. Tonight is a big game.

BTW, I think Romo is one of the best QB's this organization's ever had, think about that. In 50 years, one of the the top 5 and after only 3 full seasons as the starter!

Plus, his games against an undefeated Colts, a few Giants wins, and comebacks, he is easily one of my fav Cowboys QB's of all time (after watching us play since Super Bowl VI)!!!!!

They say the NFL stands for "not for long" if you are not performing.I agree that a loss by Dallas will turn up the heat a notch.A loss by Carolina will be bad but not as bad as a loss by Dallas,I don't believe the national media critiques Carolina like they do Dallas.I wonder how this forum/media would react to a tie score in tonights game.

A loss tonight if coupled with another horrid showing from the defense should result in Wade being canned but we all know that will never happen

It's got to hurt Jerry's bottom line. A loss here and maybe one during these away games, could get the ball rolling because he's got to keep that stadium full. One or two more disasters in a row and he risks people not being sold enough on the team to fill that thing up.

If we lose tonight, wow! This will be 100x worse than last week because it's the 0-2 Panthers and this will be 2 home losses in a row. Can't lose that many home games at the jump and still have a good chance at the playoffs.

Romo throws for 300 and 3 touches tonight and we lose 38-31.

Still on the hot seat?

Think about all the angles here. The coaches, I agree, but Romo is ok - no questions.

If we lose like that, Wade has to go. This is his defense now. Our defense has been horrible both games. And if we give up 38 to Carolina, that has to be enough to seriously think about letting him go.

what will be interesting to me is this
first i am hoping we win, and romo shows some stuff
next this will almost surely put the nail in the coffin for delhomme and fox

so if they get fired or axed before the trading deadline october 13th i think, will new management be willing to try to get some draft picks for peppers

dont get me wrong, i dont want to give up a number 1 pick for peppers, but i might be tempted to give up a number 2 and future consideration

why, remember what happened at start of 92 season, we traded for charles haley for a 2nd rounder and a future 4th rounder

i would be willing to give that up for peppers

can you imagine ware on one side and peppers on the other side, then in obvious passiing downs, peppers possibly in as a down linemen, with ratliff, ware and spencer, bowan or hatcher, and marcus spears

with that i think we could have a nasty defense like we did in the early 90s

wade has got to get this defense going again

i was really happy with the job he did towards the end of last season but its back to the way we started off last year.

i was more concerned coming into this year with garrett more then wade but now its the other way around.

garrett has still made some questionable play calls but overall are offense has been solid. the defense on the other hand has been getting burned suprisingly more then i thought.

we consistently give a easy release to recievers and cushions of at least 5 plus yards. i dont know how you can have a consistent looking defense when doing these things

all the tough defenses i see like the steelers are aggressive and very physical. we seem so finess

There is absolutely no way the Cowboys lose tonight.

The Carolina Panthers are just not a good football team, maybe even worst then Tampa Bay, who got "blanked" courtesy of the Giants yesterday.

You will have whiners proclaiming that it wasn't a big win but overall, most of the fans in Cowboy Nation will be placated tonight.

I'm not a conspiracy theorist, but interesting that everyone mentions Jerry's bottom line and the new stadium.

Teams with new stadiums have had a lot of success in today's NFL, barring an exception or two.

Let's examine the evidence...

1) Broncos and Invesco Field - back to back Super Bowls
2) Rams win Super Bowl within a few years of moving to StL, and getting a new stadium.
3) Ravens win Super Bowl within a few years of landing in Baltimore with a new stadium.
4) Patriots win Super Bowl the year before they move to a new stadium, and two after.
5) Philly makes it to Super Bowl shortly after new stadium is built.
6) Pittsburgh wins Super Bowl within a couple of years of moving to Heinz field.
7) Indy wins Super Bowl with a new stadium on the horizon.
8) Chicago makes it to Super Bowl just after extensively upgrading Soldier Field.
9) Arizona makes it Super Bowl just after new stadium is built.

Perhaps Detroit is the lone exception here...

No conspiracy theories here, but the league does have a vested interest in making sure that teams with new stadiums succeed and fill the stands.

How are you going to pay him? The vets are vested. The rookies' salaries don't matter. Rule of 51 yada. Do we have the cap room to sign him and still have some cap space for an emergency signing? Not saying the trade is happening but the cap is just another wrinkle in a big crinkle.
