The Panthers get Stephen Davis and Deshaun Foster back for next year and this guy thinks they will draft another running back. They need to improve their O-line and defensive backfield. Drafting Williams would be a luxury.

I don't know much about Travis Johnson. Aren't FSU tackles usually smaller types?

This scenario has 3-4 written all over it...we get another NT in the 2nd or 4th rounds....

The Panthers are worried about DeShaun Foster ever being healthy and may waive Davis as a cap casualty.
The style they want to play keys on a good running game.

Yes it does... but that seems AWFUL high to take Johnson...

I could fall as far as the late second round I think...

Travis Johnson...No...he is a legit top 20. We have a few nice options at getting a 3-4 RDE. I'd like to trade down to get another 2nd or 3rd round pic.

Pic up...
Travis Johnson, Sean Cody, or Marcus Spears in first round...who ever falls...
Merriman with the other #1 pic...
Best CB or Safety who's on the board with 2nd rd pic...

Then add NT with new pic we added....player like:
Luis Castillo
Ronald Fields
Sione Pouha
Antonio Bryant

Any of these guys would be good run stuffing NT's to add into the rotation.

I think you meant Anthony Bryant... ;)

What about Anttaj Hawthorne, Chris Canty, Mike Patterson, Jonathan Babineaux, Jason Jefferson, Atiyyah Ellison, Albert Means or Lorenzo Alexander...

I'm not sure whether or not Anthony Montgomery or Orien Harris declared... maybe you know...

I'm afraid Johnson has the dreaded "P" word... Potential... he should be better than he is IMHO... and we know that counts for nothing... ;)

LOL...yes I did...funny how names get stuck in your head...

Hawthorne could also be added to that list as well...he is interesting because adding a little weight to 315 or so he may end up being a good NT, OR play RDE at 295...could go both ways. He certainly is an option at the bottom of round one too. I watched him play a couple games on TV...moves his man into the backfield almost every play...takes plays off on occasion though.

Orien Harris did not declare...he fits that same mold as 3-4 DE.
Alexander fits the NT mold...
Canty...interesting...his is dang tall, but has the beef...not sure how he'd be.

ALexander would be better suited to NT... Means is listed at 6'5" 350 but he DOES need to watch his weight... he has the potential to be a very good two-gap run stuffer...at his size he certainly fits the mold of a NT is the 3-4

Canty is VERY tall... but he can play... there are actually some decent DL in this draft... someone HAS to fall to us...
