The issue I have with Jerry Jones

I don't know this guy's philosophy.

After every season, it seems like he falls in love with one other team and tries to emulate them. A couple of years ago, he became obsessed with the thought of having smaller more athletic olinemen like the colts. Is this still the philosophy here? After this season he started talking obsessively about having some inside linebackers like "dem niners." Then he got bored of that and started talking about emulating "dem giants" and kept talking about the main difference between us and them is Eli Manning.

The last few seasons he goes on these little tangents where he falls in love with the flavor of the month and starts talking obsessively about emulating them. Can someone else find me one other competent GM who speaks like this?

Fundamentally, I agreed with Jerry's offseason approach, especially with the defense -- which was to beef up the pass defense capabilities in the secondary as well as the linebacker corp.

It was a perfectly well-grounded reaction to where NFL offenses have been going in the past couple of years with a proliferation of team sending 3,4, and 5 WR/TEs out on patterns on a fairly regular basis.

The interesting thing that has happened, is there is been something of a blow-back in the league this year with teams that have decided to go the opposite direction towards balanced teams that dominate on both lines of scrimmage.

In many ways, you can look at three games so far in this young season as sorta of "the Defense strikes back":

Week 1 Packers loss to 49ers
Week 2 Cowboys loss to Seattle
Week 2 Lions Loss to 49ers

The Cowboys front-seven was in no way beefed up or improved in terms of run defense this off-season. I'm not even complaining about it -- you have to pick you battles and the Cowboys dramatically beefed up their pass defense. It's a choice, that I believe, will win the Cowboys more games this year.

As I and several others stated over the summer, both offensive and defensive lines were not repaired.

Now I have no problem with what we did do. Which is bring in players for the secondary.

But this team has done nothing save for Tyron Smith to make the offensive line a strong point.

Any comment that Jerry is trying to be like the Giants ignores the fact that we don't have much past DeMarcus Ware.

Someone said in another thread that this team is a finesse team. That's what they said about the 70's teams, as well. They didn't hit you in the mouth.

I hadn't thought of it that way, but that is a very accurate assessment. The lines just don't seem to intimidate anyone. They need to stop picking the other guy up on the rare occasion they knock one down.

The jury is still out on this team. I want to see how they respond to this over the next two weeks.

But if they split, or Heaven Forbid lose both, this season is going to be pretty bad. There aren't very many cake games this year, even with the Giants and Eagles looking pedestrian thus far.

And if this rookie that just handed the team its *** could do that, RG III will cut these guys up with the offensive line he stands behind.

It can't all be fixed in one year.

But Jerry screwed around by using his twelve picks in 2009 for special teams instead of wheeling and dealing for linemen.

This has been mentioned many many times over and people have rejected this as negative.

We see the results on the field today by our GM collecting all the information from coaches and scouts and then making the final decision.

he's a salesman, and has NO clue how to run a team....that being said

garrett needs to go asap

His philosophy is madness.

For 17 Years the Dallas General Mananger has failed, he never achieved a specific progression.

Seattle has began to achieve a specific progression which was handed out to Dallas, and the Cowboys held out their hands as they were filled with buts....our butts.

There is no excuse for not having a General Mananger, except one....a new GM would have about as much control as Jason Garrett ...... or the next Scape Goat.

The 9ers oline looked incredible last night and even they had their struggles.

It's hard to judge our team when the entire squad just doesn't show up to play. I question the leadership after this L.
