Take this for what it's worth. Sorry if re-post.

An NFL executive suggested to me that maybe the Jets were trying to get Jay Ratliff from the Cowboys and that Ratliff was the player owner Jerry Jones was talking about as the huge deal he was offered. Tight end Marcellus Bennett is the name most often mentioned as the player Jones was referring to. Ratliff is a very good player, but I’m sure there’s no way the ‘Boys would have parted with him.

Good choice by Jerry.

Wonder what they offered.

The NFL exec used the word "maybe," which probably means he's pulling things out of his ***.

I was too lazy to go back and edit my reply.

The fact that he said "Marcellus" proves he has zero credibility.

lol. Marcellus Bennit, Jhason Whitten, Terrance Neumann, Marian Barber, and Keith Brookings are all my favorite players.

If they were 0-5 and the Jets offered a number one plus others maybe. Cuz we all know how much depth there is behind Rat, besides being the most consistent player on D.

I BET it was an outside lb, backup nt a 1st and a 3rd....

The Jets and the other 30 teams in the NFL.

You don't trade players like Ratliff.

It's hard to find a player like Ratliff even in the 1st rd.

I don't think it was Rat. I don't think Jerry would use the term 'young' if it was Ratliff.

Not that Ratliff is old.

But I think it was Martellus and it was for a 2nd round pick.

um, didn't the Jets sign Miles Austin to an offer sheet just 6/7 months ago?

they asked for him again

Then again, the Jets did just lose their NT for the season, but I'm not sure if that was before or after the trade deadline.

I know someone who talksd to Ciskowski and he says there were no trade offers.

Maybe Jerry was making stuff up to look like he's in no hurry to give up on this team and that this talent on the roster is exactly where he wants it.

It's not like anyone heard of a team making an offer to Jerry. He thru it out there that someone offered him a trade.
