The Jones always says we spend the money !

They have always said they spend the money that the cap allows , Well it’s time to pony up that remark because we have 54 million to spend !
They also have 20 UFAs and 2 massive contracts paying top 3 minimum at their positions coming up.
Once Turpin sign his tender that becomes 49.
I have a hard time believing they’re going to want a bunch of rookie RBs protecting their QB coming off injury. Whether it’s Dowdle or someone else subtract another 5.
Martins dead cap hit of 9.4 hits on June 1. So subtract that.
His bulk of 17m hits next season.
My guess is they’ll want to hold back half (say 8m) for that eventuality!
How many times you want to extend Dak and Lambs 4yr contracts!
They usually try to hold back 10m for in season signings.
Hell, and they haven’t even signed the punter, place hold and oh the extension for Aubrey I’d guess they’d like yet!
In reality they have around 10-12m to play with.
Seems like a substantial amount to pretend this is the last season there will be football eh!

In a trade, the team getting Dak only pays the base salary. Not much else beyond that. Only Dallas had to pay 90m. If they trade Dak after this year, his cap hit for the next three years is around 40, 45, and 55m for the team that gets him. Only Dallas pays 70m to the cap if they keep him.

His no trade clause also complicates any trade. Dallas has no leverage.
Exactly my point on why it was not original set up for $90M in year 3.

Yeah you're right. Normally he keeps that space locked up in order to cry cap space. But after over a decade, who believes Jerry is going to all of a sudden pick up high priced FAs? He's giving that impression. I have to see it to believe it.

On Dak. His dead cap is going to be up the wazoo when he leaves.
Don't forget that over the past few years the cap has significantly increased.

That has slowly caught up with a large number of good players with competitive salaries. The monies left from last season went to a lot this group of players and attempt to cover 3 top shelf players. Parson's contract is still being worked and no agreements yet to allow concessions to Dallas, on this.

Sunday saw the Myles Garrett saga reach a pretty surprising conclusion after the All-Pro DE decided to re-up with the Browns on a record-setting contract just weeks after very publicly pushing for a trade somewhere else.

The two sides agreed on a four-year extension worth a reported $123.5 million in guaranteed money — making Garrett the highest-paid non-quarterback in league history.

Some upper level shifts are happening in the market as well.

No i've already told you, they'll be active, and I can't wait to COMPLAIN to those who doubted Jerry, it's time to put the negativity away, I think they get the message, Philly laid the blueprint
I actually believe you. I think waiting until the worst free agent class in a decade to get active in free agency is on brand for Jerry.

Do tell just where the money is going towards...it's not yet presented.

Garrett Deal

The deal also comes just days after Browns owner Jimmy Haslam reportedly refused to meet with the former Defensive Player of the Year to discuss a possible trade scenario.

"The Myles Garrett extension will cost the Cowboys a minimum of an additional $30mm with [Micah Parsons'] extension; last year Nick Bosa's average, as the highest paid DE was $34mm," Tannenbaum said. "On a 5 year extension for Parsons' the Cowboys, by waiting a year, will be at least 6mm/yr."

Jimmy Johnson already would have asked for his player, Stephen.

NFL Network Insider Mike Garafolo added, per sources, that Browns ownership told Garrett that if he wants to discuss his future with the team, he needs to talk with general manager Andrew Berry.

Imagine what that must be like.

This really doesn't need to be a stumbling block, Stephen. Jerry, you are still accountable.

I said last year I was holding the head coach accountable and he ended up gone. Now the franchise needs a little decisiveness right now.
