Last night I had a prime example of it.

My wife and I decided to surprise our son with a trip to Montreal on the Easter long weekend (we get both Friday and Monday off) so he can see his favourite hockey team play a home game.

He wasn't expecting it and his eyes bugged out, then a smile came across his face and he kept repeating "are you serious, are you serious", then "this is a dream come true".

So he and I are leaving March 29 and coming home April 1 while in the meantime seeing the Canadiens and Rangers in Montreal on March 31.

It is pricey (about $4000.00 in total) but the look on his face and his excitement (he had to call his grandma right away to tell her) was all worth it.

Sounds like a great time. I always have a soft spot in my heart from Montreal and Les Habs since I grew up just outside of Montreal and remember the days of Lafleur, Shutt, Dryden, Robinson, Lemaire, Gainey, et al.

Have fun. I`m sure the little guy will never forget this trip.

Such a nice story. I also have little kids and I love to surprise them once in a while to see the joy on their face.

I like Rangers but I hope that night, things go your way and your kid ends up having a great memory.

There is a good chance I will also be at that game.

Cheering for a Habs loss.

We moved out West shortly after the referendum too but waited until 1983 for our move. We didn't make it to the coast but settled down in Calgary.

I love parts of Quebec but I hate the politics and the language police.

Let me guess, either Leafs or Bruins given your locale.
Virtually every team hates the Habs. But still a cool story, seeing hockey live is easily the best sport to go to

I don't know, the Cowboys are the Canadiens of the NFL. We have the most fans in the NHL.

The Habs and Canucks have a well earned reputation for being a bunch of whiners and divers.

Did the lawsuit against Chara after the 911 game ever get resolved?

LOL

Teams that play the Bruins are always allegedly divers because the second the Bruins lose, all they do is call the other team divers that despite having Marchand, "Sagan" and Krecji on the team and always complain about other teams being dirty despite having Thornton, Chara, McQuaid, Ference, Boychuk on their team.

Canadiens are 14-4-4 this year, that is all I care about.

Of course, your point doesn't refute my comment that the Cowboys are the Canadiens of the NFL.

What I love about the Bruins is that they are always the victims. I guess it goes back to the 1970s when Sinden always complained that they only lost to us because the refs were in our pocket even though they were never as good as us and couldn't count six players on the ice.
