That dynasty team had players like Haley, Ken Norton Jr. , Irvin and Tui that had more mental toughness than most of the current roster combined. This team has tons of talent but does not understand how to go for the throat. It needs some fire and some mental toughness to get over the hump. I really thought RW was going to be that guy, but he is soft and thin skinned...
There is so much truth in this statement. Barber is one of the few players who is fiery and pissed off.

I have been thinking for a while that our biggest loss on defense is when Dat had to hang it up. I think his fire and determination would have really come in handy last year.

Speaking of that (and not to hijack), but did anyone watch Minnesota this season? I'd like to get an idea of what MB3's brother has going for him.

Apparently he's the best player on a poor defense up there, but scouts seem to think he's got something, many have him as the forth or fifth best safety in the draft...similar to his brother at RB. Anyway, if he's got that same fire as Marion, I'd love to see us get him on day two. I'd bet Marion has already mentioned something to Wade and company.

I could see it like this:

SS - Williams, Dominique Barber, Brown
FS - Hamlin, Watkins, Brown

Oh those wedding day memories.

If he is as fiery as his brother, WRs will be broken in half...

Imagine how much different both the O and D would be with Larry Allen and Haley in their prime on the current roster.

Ah, yes, Dat. Our biggest loss on defense.

Did you write that with a straight face?:lmao2:

To me the definition of leadership and mental toughness was Ken Norton Jr. standing up Kenneth Davis in the Super Bowl on the 1 yard line. That is the difference between a champion and a pretender. Our defense would have let him score then four guys would have stood in the end zone looking and pointing fingers at each other.

Ken Norton made that play because he's a play maker. He was one of the best linebackers on his era. It didn't have much to do with his leadership or "mental toughness". Just get good players with loads of talent who do not have disastrous personalities. The leadership usually takes care of itself after that.

Dat did a whole lot for our D that did not show up on stat sheets. But then I should not have to tell a real cowboy fan that.
