The last play

My guess is Zeke was meant to snap, then bump and run. Turpin I think was always the target but he was meant to receive it on the move. He then has WR's and Zeke advancing up the field to block, or as options to recieve the lateral with the linemen blocking holes. The reality was Zeke just got trucked so badly that Dak faced instant pressure and couldn't get a good throw to Turpin. He was left flat-footed and got wrecked as he caught it. To me, once it was shown before the time out, they should have switched it up with Turpin as a running back.
So he was supposed to hit the receiver in stride? Now that’s funny. There’s the flaw in the plan.

Can somebody tell me, what was the goal of the last play? Linemen split wide, Zeke snapping the ball. What was Linehan errr i meant Moores plan?
From what I could see, had they thrown it to TY Hilton all the way to the left, it at least got them going up field a considerable distance. One defender and 3-4 blockers.

What was the OL suppose to do lining up as WRs?

They wanted to outdumb last season's last play in the playoffs.
But hey, at least Elliott got the snap off this year!

I just watched a couple vids of that play.

If you're interested, take a peak. Focus on Turpin and Dak. Watch how Dak takes the snap, drops back while under no pressure, taps the ball then throws.

While this was going on, Turpin came off the line had a good deal of open space around him as he moved to his spot, then, as the defenders converged, taking away what space he did have, Dak finally let the ball go. Zero space to even try and make a move, Easy tackle. Game over.

Dak single handedly turned a low percentage play into a no percentage play by not quickly getting the ball out to Turpin with a little space to do what he does best. Dak didn't have to move an inch after taking the snap. He could have and should have taken the snap, counted one Mississippi and let it go to Turpin.

Very unlikely the play wins the game, but it at least gives a chance AND we go down fighting instead of lay down looking like a bunch of chumps.

That was quintessential Dak.

You can criticize Dak for many things, but this is not one of them. This play was a record high "worse chance of working" awarded play of 2022-2023

It had no shot, but you were intrigued by the formation until you actually saw what they did with it. It’s even more laughable that in a scenario where a handful of defenders are 60 yards downfield, you manage 6 yards.

When they lined up, I thought what in the hell is going on? But you're right, intrigued. Then confused followed by embarrassed.
A quick pass for 10 in hopes at a shot at a realistic Hail Mary.
There's nothing else that would remotely be a chance.

Can you dispute the specific points I made?

Like I said, low percentage play, but in your opinion, does getting your very good return man the ball with space give you a better or worse chance than letting the defense converge on him before getting him the ball?

There was no reason for Dak to take so long to throw a bad pass, in that situation. In fact, the situation calls for a quick throw.

Dak is not above criticism.

I thought the concept was interesting...

You put a few linemen out wide to set up blocking almost like a kick return and you put a few speedy skill guys behind them with another running back on the field to run and lateral.

However, the players looked to have given up and the play ended quickly.
Eh, everyone was keying on Turpin… so they make the initial pass to Turpin???

My guess is the plan was to hit Turpin and draw some defense to the middle, and then throw it outside to one of the WRs with blockers in front.

Zeke as a center for his last play as a Cowboy...

Jerry has a sense of humor.

Looks to me like the plan was to get the ball to Turpin with a little space then Lamb could come around behind providing the throw back option and off we go stumbling and bumbling down the field.

Maybe that's why Lamb didn't immediately come off the line at the snap. Maybe that's why the weird formation to open up the middle of the field.

There is no good option in that situation. This option was just as good as any of the other bad options. What little chance it had ended with , dance dance, tap, hitch..............throw.

Throw a Hail Mary and hope for an interference call. That last play was flat out pathetic. At least you throw a deep ball and if it don’t work, you walk off. Not get laughed off the field just like last year!
Lol! Yeah because refs are going to throw an interference flag on a last second Hail Mary from the 20! What land of multi colored unicorns swimming in fairy dust do you hail from?
