I think the question is how much did the Front office try to start talks?
Was there effort to try to sign Lamb in March? Or was it the front office just sitting on their hands/promoting TV shows, going on vacations or just waiting till TC to break out the contract talks?

The team clearly didn't spend much time in free agency.

I'm sure Dallas knew rough numbers it would take to re-sign the trio.

The longer you wait, the more you pay! Can someone with a good understanding of the cap please give me some reasons why that operating in the “let’s wait” philosophy makes any sense?
Injury risk. Performance risk.

It's basic. Contracts have guarantees.
To sign before free agency puts those risks on the franchise.
To wait for free agency puts those risks on the player.

We lose because of our QBs.

Everyone knows this.

That's why Lamb and Micah will be paid and Dak won't.
I hope you're right, but I'll believe it when I see it. The one thing I do believe is that Dak isn't getting a new contract until next year. If at all. His contract hinges on this season. There is no reason to extend him now.

I've never seen a QB get an extension this late in the league year to open up 20-30 million in cap space for no reason at all. Nor have I seen a QB get an extension and stay at a 55M cap hit. So I don't expect to see it now.

What leaves still need to be turned over to make J&S get off their butts and start securing the future? They haven’t learned one thing in the past 12 years. The longer you wait, the more you pay! Jerry said “we are waiting for some more leaves to fall”. What, or how many more are there?
That’s probably the one they were waiting for with Lamb. Just happened so give a little time for them to react.

And they’re probably still waiting for Tua and especially Lawrence to get their deals before beginning serious talks with Dak.

The reasons Jethro & Son are waiting for might not be Cap related and more public perception related.

It's interesting that we draft players hoping they will become dominant/All-Pros at their positions but when it happens.......some fans would rather run them out of town than reward them with a contract they earned. Why is that???????
