The Left Tackle Market Is About To Get Insane

Simple truth in all professional sports: The price tag is ALWAYS going to go up as long as TV contracts keep going up, advertisers keep paying, and fans keep buying. No one should ever be surprised by any player’s price tag these days.

Hasn't LT been pretty crazy and one of the highest priced positions for a while? What other positions beside QB and maybe DE make more on the regular?

I guess I don't understand why some are so freaked out over players contracts getting bigger.

The salary cap is also. Very very much the next few years. So it's natural the player contracts would follow.

LT actually has struggled up until recently. Before today (pre Thomas deal) 4 out of the top 5 highest paid LT are actually guys on their 3rd deal not 2nd.

There was a weird transition period where there draftees that should of been getting blockbuster 2nd deals like 2018-2020 timeframe didn't happen, most of the guys getting the all pro nods and all pro money where the pre 2014 era draftees

And to think the Cowboys were criticized for giving Tyron I believe 10 years for close to 100 million I believe years ago. That looks like a bargain now. Now if he can only stay healthy.

Good thing we don’t have a left tackle that needs an extension.

LT is the second most important position in the sport, except for maybe edge rusher.

So this isn’t surprising to me.
