I know the media has not given us much, if any info, on the decision making process of the front office regarding
the firing of the coaches that have been let go so far this off season.

I thought it would be interesting to see what theories we can come up with.

First, I was very surprised that Moore was let go.
I thought he was Jerry's handpicked wonder boy, HC in waiting,
Garrett 2.0.

So here we go :

1. Mac has consolidated power and won over Jerry's confidence and was able to fire Moore?
2. Stephen is now in charge, and saw the Moore was not getting the best out of Dak ?
3. Jerry, in a surprising moment of clarity realized that Moore's Offense and Dak were not a good fit?
4. What do you got ?

They know they aren't improving the team on the field, so all they could do was make a small gesture of firing B&C coaches and one splash with Moore (which I'll admit was surprising). But they really didn't have a choice. They know what Dak is by now, same as us, and he isn't going anywhere. Putting MM in charge just kicks the Dak controversy another year down the road. Whatever you thought of Moore, Jerry needed a scapegoat for Dak. Just smoke and mirrors before we settle in for the usual FA.

I think the league intervened and let the Cowboys know they are no longer allowed to hoard all the leagues talent and keep all the best coaches on staff so they were forced to make a cut. If the Cowboys didn't let someone go the league was going to make sure they threw twice as many flags on the Cowboys every game as they have been the last couple years to keep competitive balance.

My other theory involves Jerry being abducted by aliens years ago and now the original Jerry no longer exists and a species from another planet is trying to destroy us from within by the first step of demoralizing the fan base of the biggest sports franchise.

I think it's #3. Jerry continues to get humbled - first was realizing that Garrett had to go. That was the biggest domino to fall because it showed that there is a breaking point for everyone. No one is safe forever, no matter how much Jerry wants them to succeed. Now Jerry knows his chosen QB and OC are not good enough to get them over the hump. It's easier to get rid of the OC for now but Dak is definitely next. They're just forced to keep him around a little longer due to the contract but his time is coming eventually

5. Jerry and Stephen have no idea what is going on but know they have to find a scapegoat for their (and Daks) failures so it was Moore this year and teeing up MM for next year

While boring this is most likely the answer. They dont have a ton of assets to improve the roster so the next best thing is to mix up the coaching staff and try to get some fresh ideas and voices in the building. Worst case you gain a ton of information about your QB before the year where you could in theory move on or lock him up for another long term deal.

And I have no doubt they want nothing more than to restructure Dak and retire him a Cowboy, the backlash right now would be too great. Jerry wouldn't be able to do a radio show for a long, long time. As it stands now, people will forget what we are and start buying into MM solving everything in a couple weeks. Jerry will be back on the air, and all will be right with the world.

Moore didnt want to stay in this clown show any longer regardless of his scheme being outdated.

Narcissism would deflect blame to the appropriate scapegoat.

Head coach? Nope. McCarthy advanced the team from last year's wild card loss to this year's divisional loss.

Defensive coordinator? Nope part 2. Quinn's defense improved notably from last season.

General manager? Please.

Offensive coordinator? The sacrificial lamb was easy. Which top three coach had been receiving the most criticism from opposing (defensive) players and media pundits all season concerning his scheme?

Moore getting the axe should not have surprised anyone. Jones has done the same song-and-dance with coordinators and assistant coaches in the past. It would have happened sooner if not for Moore interviewing for another team, which would have taken the decision of kicking him to the curb off the table if he had gotten the job.

It is not simple ego. Or greed. Or other excuses. Stop being surprised.

The most logical reply given past experience.
They make a minor splash move to distract from the larger problem that is Jerry.
It gives the fan base hope and we move on like everything is hunky dory.

I don't think any intelligent fan is surprised.
The longer this charade goes on the more obvious to the world that Jerry IS THE PROBLEM.
It has not helped Jerry that these young aggressive GMs are getting to the SB and having success while
HIS teams cant even make it to the NFCCG.
It's embarrassing!

I’d imagine jerry wanted to keep kellen, Stephen probably leaned that way too and Mike wanted to get his own guys in here and fought for it. I think we see schottenheimer, mcadoo, James campen all brought in and basically Jerry is gonna let mm die or live on this idea.

I bet McCarthy said there’s no way dak will improve with status quo while the Jones’s probably preferred that. Good, bad, or the other McCarthy put himself out there knowing if it doesn’t work out he gets canned

Jerry has so much money tied to Dak and can’t stomach a new QB search. So he is stuck with having to surround his overpaid avg QB with new coaches and talent futilely hoping it will all make Dak a better QB instead of trying to get a better QB.

Moore made a lateral move to get away from Dak before his career coaches chances went down.
Aren't "lateral moves to get away" what someone obtains before getting a pink slip? A lateral move after-the-fact would be a better descriptor for Moore's situation.
