I think we have too many other needs than to draft OL in the first round. We just signed Jones thank goodness he's actually played some NFL football, and they have Nathan Thomas who they drafted last year (may have been an UDFA) not sure. If they have a plan to put this player at guard fine I get it, but i'd rather us use the pick on WR/DB/DT then to go this route. We've drafted OL early in recent years getting Smith and Guyton, I think it's time to focus elsewhere for now. YES FIXING THE trenches are important!!!!!! (did you hear me!!!!!?)

The Cowboys are not linked to any offensive linemen early if you follow the draft rumors. What you are hearing are local talking heads and draft nicks who don’t like Guyton and Steele wanting to replace them. I get the impression from the coaches interviews that they want develop these kids and see what happens. Steele is the veteran of the group and he is like 27. Let’s see them play together.

I see a lot of boom/bust candidates in the draft kind of like a lot of the FAs we signed this year. I also don't think they are going to fix this thing in one draft so they should be playing the long game. The right side of our OL is tenuous so if a quality OL falls to them in the first or second round they should take him. It would help both the run game and passing game.

The Boys so far only have one possible first rd OL pick that might not work out in their history and that is Guyton. They have done it four times and Guyton is the only one that might fail; the other four all made All Pro and two will be HOF.

So maybe Jethro looks at it as the safest way to go?

I know you acknowledged that fixing the trenches is important but it is. Guard would do wonders for a lot of ills.
I'm thankful someone realized that I said that!!!!! It very much is, I hope it's a guard that's been playing guard in college for several years and not a tackle being moved to guard

I think we can give him one more year to see!! Man I don't like the fact that he was brought in here because of POTENTIAL!!! He hasn't been playing that long either, there's so many red flags I had with us taking him last year

The reason the Cowboys allow so many yards rushing is they don't have any really good solid LBs. Overshown can't stay healthy and Micah plays DE so he doesn't count as LB. When Overshown was in there we saw a run wrecking LB that was a seek and destroy guy. They should be looking at LBs even though this isn't a strong draft for them.

Excellent point(s)! .......we haven't seen elite play from the MLBer position since LVE rookie year. Interestintly I think that was Eberflus final year as the Cowboys LBer coach. He has made MLBer a top priority at each coaching tenures since. It's why I feel a bit better about our chances for improvement going foward.......

Membou is a monster and if he's there at 12 don't question it, just pick him.

That being said, it's time to develop what they have on the OL. A bunch of young guys that need some seasoning, so happy to have Adams n Riley.

Would love to get NT Kenneth Grant or Tyleik Williams in the 1st round to reinforce the trenches then go after all the other stuff.

NO the reason was a soft as tissue D line.

DT that will stop the run is the primary need on D.
RB is the primary need on the O and we can get one of them easy in this draft.

I want to give our young guys on the line a year to develop under the new O line coach before using precious draft capital on more

Agreed. Was there a DL in FA? I mean a good one. They are not easy to find. That's the quickest way to get one, but expensive.

This is one of the few years I have no idea who they are drafting round 1. It all depends on who is there. RB, WR, OL, LB, CB. I think there is a slim chance at RB, but it is possible.

For what we needed, this years FA was pretty slim. There were a couple of DL's that we could have gotten that certainly would have improved the line; but not many.
And of course instead of waiting until the end to dumpster dive, this time they did it in the first two days. That was their selective aggressiveness.
