I don't understand what you mean. Dallas drafted White as the #2 overall pick in 1975. He was going to be on the team no matter what.

Honestly it was kind of a golden era and the Cowboys always made for great TV. Did not have the number of great athletes that exist now but I think the game was fundamentally better played than it is now. Not nearly as many "me first" athletes with their hand out and mugging for the cameras.

70's were awesome, pretty much each of the 6 divisions had 1 dominant team
miami, pitt, oak, dall, minn, rams
there were other teams who snuck into post season here and there - kc, wash, clev, balt, sf

it gave so much gravitas to the playoffs
