The math behind trade/cut Romo

i would love to see Romo eventually back on our sidelines as a coaching staffer in some capacity. I think he's a positive influence and sharp-minded.

Most of what you say is correct but the major error is that dead money will not be added to this years cap.......the 19.6m would hit next year

and DAL never intended on paying Romo 20m in 2018 and 2019...those were placeholders to make the deal look bigger and to help pro-rate the signing bonuses over the full 5 years allowed

they will save a lot of cap space by trading Romo next year, but they can also get it by re-doing his contract.....we have to see how he feels and how healthy he is
How much could we save in 2017?

If they converted Romo's 14m salary to a signing bonus and reduced his 2018-19 salaries but increased the guarantees we could get his 2017 cap hit down to the 14m range and save 10m

Insane amounts- all of these athletes are overpaid, every single one.
There will eventually be a backlash but right now the TV money is too huge....if the ratings continue to fall the cap will flatten out in 4-5 years......the Networks won't be able to sustain the losses

Yep, keep up the disrespect and ungrateful attitude in an increasingly poor Obama/HRC(God help us) led economy. I love the game like anyone else, but it's such an insult to working Americans out in the real world.

Until the league finds other revenue sources such as streaming
