The mindset issue

This quote is a summation of a significant issue IMO:

“We’ve got to start playing like it,” Lawrence said. “Like I said earlier, we’re beating ourselves. That’s it. Last week, we beat ourselves, the week before we beat ourselves, this week we beat ourselves. Now it’s time to buckle down and go to work.”

This team is far too comfortable. They have a pattern of playing their best when their backs are against the wall... would not surprise me at all if they come out and beat Philly on Sun because it is a must win game.

Their inconsistencies stem from the mindset DLaw just articulated. “Now” we have to buckle down. Now. After everything goes wrong— now we need to get to work.

Why do we have to wait for a crisis to right the ship? That shows a lack of professional maturity from one of the “leaders” on this team— but I think this mentality runs deep on this team and they will revert back to under-achieving once the present crisis is passed.

Like I said— I think the drama puts us on notice and we win with an “all hands on deck” performance against Philly... but until the root attitudes and culture are addressed— this issue will continue to pop up under this regime because it has been plaguing them for a decade.

But all hands won't be on deck?

As long as the money is rolling in, Jerry don't mind.

In the 3 games the Cowboys have lost, the other team was simply more physical than the Cowboys. Opposing defenses were pounding the Cowboys offensive players. Look at how the Jet were hitting Dak yesterday on almost every play. Not just bumping into him, they were pounding him into the ground. They were doing the same thing to the Cowboys RBs and receivers. That's an 0-4 team playing hard against a 3-2 team that has lost 2 consecutive games. The Jets wanted to win more than Dallas. So did the Packers last week and the Saints the week before that. Go back and watch the 1st half of the Dolphins game. Same thing.

The Cowboys take the field on Sunday, expecting things to happen for them. Their opponents take the field determined to make things happen for them. From the front office down, with few exceptions, this team does not have a championship mentality.
