While DE is certainly a very important position…it’s far from what separates the Cowboys from good teams. The willingness to add impactful players from outside of the organization is what has and will continue to hold the cowboys back as a franchise.

Trying to think…besides Cooper, who has been acquired from outside of the organization that has had any kind of significant impact in the past decade?
No, it's really not, along w/ DT. Almost every year we watch the teams w/ disruptive DLines in the super bowl.

They've been making these mistakes for the past 26 years. Don't worry, they will be fine and continue to make the same stupid mistakes for the foreseeable future. Jerruh and family will continue to rake in the money because fans like all of us on this board choose or have chosen many many years ago that the Cowboys are our team.

This team hasn't come close to winning anything in 26 years.

I'm almost embarrassed to be here. We are morons. All of us.
But how do you just switch to another team. It been 50 years of fandom for me. I just can't do it and what's worse I have no faith, no hope that Dumb and Dumber will ever manipulate Dallas to winning anything ever again.

The only way we win another SB is if the NFL pulls a WWE and gives Jerry one before he meets the man in the sky!

There's got to be some kind of discipline problem in training camp and beyond. For a team to have gotten as many penalties as it did, it's got to be a discipline problem. Yes, some of the penalties were bogus, but most weren't. Most were legitimate penalties that came from stupid mistakes or lapses in concentration. No team is without penalties, but when you lead the league in penalties, you've got a big problem.

The Cowboys have made very serious mistakes that they need to fix, first of all not realizing defensively, that at this time the NFL is a QB league, having signed Zeke with that contract is a very serious mistake, in this league you no longer win with RB you win with QB and defenses. It is required to invest in OT and DE not in RB.
The contracts of D-Law- Zeke - Cooper, and especially Dak's, are serious mistakes, Dak's contract is a serious mistake to the non-transfer clause, it is urgent to clean this equipment.

it is a mistake to retain D-Law, it is not worth what they are paying him, and they are not going to get anywhere retaining him, it is necessary to rebuild the team, the cowboys look lost and aimless, they do not know the times they are living . The NFL is a QB league, therefore defense against the aerial attack is required, defenses that pressure the QB, the winning teams and that have reached the playoffs have this characteristic. It requires not just one but two double-digit players in terms of sacks. examples:

Rams - Von Miller 13 sacks, Aaron Donald 19 sacks
Steelers - T.J. Watt 22 sacks Cameron Heyward 11 sacks
49ers - Nick Bosa 21 sacks Arik Armstead 10 sacks
Bengals - Trey Hendrickson 20 sacks, Sam Hubbard 12 sacks
Titans - Harold Landry 16 sacks, Jeffery Simmons 14 sacks, Denico Autry 13 sacks

Tampa do the same in 2020 with T Shaquil Barrett and Jason Pierre Paul

D-Law is not a double digit player in sacks.

Now you see the chargers going in this same direction, making a transfer for Khalil Mack and now this pair with Joey Bosa, this is something that the Cowboys don't have and won't have if they stay with D-Law.
Micah Parsons should be a DE, but he needs a partner on the opposite side, who can also have double digit sacks, and the only way to get one is in the Draft since they are expensive players in free agency.

If we look at the model that the Rams implemented and especially what the defense did in the SB, we have this statistic: 7 sacks, 4 hits, 15 rushes, 26 pressures, 1 pressure every 2 passes from Burrow, this is not what Dallas has, nor hey will, if they doesn't renew the front line starting with the DE.

cowboys look lost and stuck in the past, they need to turn the wheel and adapt to the times and be aggressive.

We could merge this with the 'Complementary team' thread. It appears our Defense was most successful when we attacked from both edges, got to the QB and HURRIED THEM into rushing throws. Check our interception rates with Micah/Gregory as opposed to when Micah played LB....Dlaw has his undoubted talents, however, if we're going to have a strategy of utilising our ballhawking CB1 and pressuring the QB by terror we need Micah playing more edge and yes an out and out rusher ....thats just not DLaw's game.

Different cover, same book. What's done is done. Can the fans come up with something new? Many talk about the owner stuck in the 90's; many fans are stuck along with him.
