Roger Saffold, OL

+1

Unfortunately, I still see JJones trying to make a splash or be cute with a trade down to the point that another "who is that" OL ends up being drafted.

This draft doesn't have to be a WOW draft... just one that produces at least two future starters while they stand in this year as solid backups.

I like him to. The thing about this draft is there has to be 60 players people are saying are moving into to first round. Im hopeful saffold will make it to the second. Personally if we did trade back for two more numer twos I woud rather move one for Gaither. Prossman

welcome aboard!

I hope we trade our first and get 3 second round picks, something along the lines of Saffold, Burnett, and Ducasse would be cool. Maybe even Allen drops to an early second pick.

I'll take him at 27. He's my pick. Everything I've heard about him suggests that he's a quality kid. We're going to need a tackle, and I'd rather not rely on a guy like Brewster who seems like a big unknown. It seems like we're ready to give the LT spot to Free, but it wouldn't hurt to bring in a guy who could possibly compete with him, if not this year than in the future.

This is a guy that makes a lot of sense at 27. If you are going to take an OL in round 1, then he at least needs to be on your game day roster in his first year. Since Dallas normally only carries 7 OL's on game day, versatility is key for your backups. Versatility is a strength of Saffold, who has the capability to play OT or OG. Since he can also play LT, he gives you another option should Free falter. In the long-term, he is also a viable starter either as an OG or OT.

As for Saffold being a reach at 27, Gosselin has him rated at #30 in his top 100. So he represents decent value for a late first round selection. I wouldn't mind him at 27 at all, assuming Iupati and Pouncy are off the board at that point.

Good posts and points: I was ALL OVER Saffold on this board after seeing him dominate at the Senior Bowl.....I think he makes sense at 27 for sure. But can JJ be that level headed? Time will tell soon enough...

Gosselin or someone also mentioned that scouts think Saffold can also play C.

I am really impressed with Saffold especially personality wise and where his head is at. He was on the radio here in Indy on Tuesday and he seems to be a very focused young man. He said he committed to IU and schools like Ohio State were still recruiting him and he said he is honoring his committment to stay at IU. I know he isn't the first guy to do this but to that says a lot about a person to do that.

Hope this is the way we go...I really do. Hey, I like Dez Bryant too...but we NEED olinemen!!!!!!!!!!!!

Saffold is just built to excel at LT. Mobile, long arms, experienced. He's got it all.

Actually, he has neither "ideal" LT size nor arm length.

(6' 4" tall, 33 5/8" arms)

Not judging the guy. Just sayin'.
