I said 10-6 and I still see it. This team is on the verge folks. I've learned to quickly get over the little things and just have faith that the coaches will resolve them. A lot of really good things happened last night. The little things will be fixed. What a heartbreaking loss... but the horizon looks much better than it looked last year. It's going to be a bumpy ride though. What's a good ride without a few bumps? ;)

I agree with this (along with the record). The great thing is that this team will continue to improve. The young line-men who are just starting out will get better and the defensive players will get more comfortable in the scheme. I had Romo down for two complete head-scratcher games this year and he already got one out of the way.

The way our team went into a hostile environment and took it to the Jets is really encouraging. Did you see Miles and Dez telling Revis and Cromartie what to kiss? I see swagger coming to the forefront. We just need to seal the deal each week. (And get healthy).

To me, the season looks better than it did yesterday morning!!!

But what will we do when we get to the playoffs in a pressure situation.

Will we find a crazy ways to snatch a loss from the jaws of victory?

I agree with everything you said but the elephant in the room is still sitting there.

I don't know, but I would really like to find out. This team will get better as the season goes on.

This is a bitter pill, because Tony romo isn't a rookie, but he's making bonehead rookie mistakes. I'm tired of hearing "it's my fault". Our secondary is depleted and Romo can't afford to give away points on the road. His turnovers just deflate the team and just happen at worst times.

I agree with the premise of the thread. I also agree with you.

Whether we as Cowboys fans like it or not, Romo's performance down the stretch in this game will dog him throughout the season. I don't care if he wins close last-minute game these regular season. If we get to the playoffs, this is what will be remembered. And he will have to lead this team to the Super Bowl (and possibly a Super Bowl win) before he sheds the reputation of Tony Uh-Oh!

First, Newman has to be ready to play soon because at some point OCs are going to figure out how to attack the Dallas defense, especially if Newman, Jenkins, and Scandrick are all out.

Second, Tony needs to figure out quickly that he needs to manage the game a little better in the 4th quarter when they have the lead. Hopefully, this first game was an eye-opener for him so he gets the message now rather than later: That he can't do it by himself.

Finally, Get the Special Teams fixed! It may have not have been considered a problem last week but it obviously was a problem last night.

The good news is that Dallas was not overmatched talent-wise and they hung in there with a very good football team.

It will sure help if we have ANY of our top 3 corners healthy.

Plus, with a full season under Nagy's, Costa's and Smith's belt, they will be better in January than they were in their first start.

On that same note... D Harris, Sean Lee, and Dez Bryant should be better after a full year too.

Not to mention the whole defense will get better each week as they learn Rob's system. I expect them to be much better in the second half of the season... and they were good last night.

Heck, I even expect Garrett to continue to learn as the season goes on.

Dallas was good last night. They will be much more dangerous by the end of the year.

Even without our corners last night we were still better than the Jets.

We had to gift wrap that game for them to win and thats exactly what we did.

Romo and Garrett lost focus and the avalanche started.

I think that is the key!

Both Garrett and Romo got greedy the first game of the season and lost focus over the fact that they had the lead and they did not protect it.

Forget getting better for a second.

Dallas was the best team on the field last night and it didn't matter.

When will the catastrophic mistakes stop?

If you want this team to take the next step thats what you need to ask yourself.

The Cowboys will suprisingly have a really good team as is this year.

But will we kick ourselves in the cads?

Yes... with the 3 young OL that everyone said wouldn't give us a chance.

With a completely depleted secondary that everyone said wouldn't hold up. (You can say they held up well, but there were catches and first downs that likely wouldn't have happened with Newman, Scandrick and Jenkins playing and healthy. That takes pressure off of the rest of the team.)

With Dez not being Dez for the final 3 quarters against what everyone said was the best secondary in football.

With a crowd going crazy from the 10 yr anniversary and the Jets head coach fanning that flame. With a blocked fg TD that should have never happened that stoked that fire even more.

A lot went on in that game that led to the Jets sqeaking out a 3 point win at home in what Rex Ryan said was the most pressure to win in any game he's ever been in. A lot. And in most of our games this season we should have a much better secondary. A more experienced OL that isn't going against a crazy Ryan defense that is maybe the best in the NFL. A healthy and more experienced Dez Bryant for more than 1 quarter.

I am disappointed that we lost... but I'm completely fired up about the team's chances this year. They played well and hung tough in a situation that many thought would entirely overwhelm the team from the get-go.

This is a good team that is going to get better every week.

I understand what you're saying. I think that Garrett won't make that mistake again (just run the ball and take the gimme FG). If anything he learns from his mistakes. Just like kneeling to end the first half shows he learned from Choice's fumble last season right before the half.

Thanks for the great responses. It's nice to know I am not crazy or being completely unrealistic about the whole situation. My reaction last night was typical but then I thought about the overwhelming list of positives that came out of last night's battle. Rob Ryan was fit to be tied at the end of that game. It was written all over his face. That approach to the game will rub off on the defense (it already has) and, more importantly, the offense as well. Jason and Rob will steer us in a direction that we haven't enjoyed in a very long time.

I believe Garrett has a number of good things along with a few bad things to build upon. I would pay anything to be a fly on the wall in the film sessions this week. :) That first W is not very far away.
