The Musers - What is the point of going to the Playoffs when you need help

Listening to the Ticket and The Musers are saying that when you are a team that needs help from other teams to get into the Playoffs, what is point in going to the Playoffs?

...is great, but I do prefer seeing the team building up and improving leading into the tournament.

You have to win some leading up to the playoffs just to prove you can win for starters.

I don't think people actually understand what they are saying when they say they don't want the Cowboys to get into the Playoffs if they need help.

Yep, the 2005 Steelers comes to mind. Had we not beaten KC, they would not have even made the playoffs...

Unless you go undefeated, you almost always "need help" to get into the playoffs. The only question is whether you get that help early in the season or late in the season -- which is irrelevant.

Are the Eagles any worse off because they needed us to lose to New York and San Diego in order to move into first place? Are the Patriots any worse off because they needed Miami to lose their first three games of the season in order to be where they are now?

It is no different than the idea that you want to beat opponents "at full strength". I'd take a win by forfeit if it was possible. Any way you can get it. Same thing goes for the playoffs.
