We draft Connor McGovern in the 3rd round and he becomes a starter with Buffalo. We only get back a 5th rounder as our comp pick. We lose a budding star in 4th round pick Dalton Schultz who shined in Houston, and we get back a near worthless end of 6th round comp pick. That is take from the rich, cherry pick our players whom we have developed and the NFL thinks we got compensation? Only a commy would agree. That is why we never make it to the Super Bowl.

We should get at least a third rounder for lost starters. The Eagles got two number ones at the end of the first round in consecutive years for losing Reggie White. We lost Ken Norton, Jr a 2nd rounder, and I do not recall the comp, but it was nothing compared to the value of a tried and tested stud LB. We also lost lots of other LB's Darrin Smith, Dixon Edwards, Randall Godfrey and Robert Jones, three 2nd rounders and a first rounder. We get diluted every year. Kevin Gogan and Ron Stone became All-Pro when they left us.

Overall, this team literally gets taken to the cleaners ever since the league put in the salary cap because Jimmy Johnson built a two deep team of stars at every position. All our in-training backups leave and the replacements are bargain basement players, perennially injured or bad characters, or from scrap heaps. That is why we have not had a good third OT for the longest time and we keep parading stiffs out there who went to turn-style school.

Why are you blaming the league for Jerry and Stephen being the dumbest GM's in NFL history? Jerry signed off on every one of those moves, didn't he? Its his damn fault the team keeps getting screwed, not the league.

And just who do you think was the moron who came up with the salary cap in the first place? The same idiot you think keeps getting taken to the cleaners by the league.

All teams are subject to the same rules. Want more picks? Trade ascending quality players. Instead, Dallas will sign them to expensive long term deals that they won't finish, and be stuck with the dead money. Zeke is a good example. The best teams aren't afraid to move on from a quality player.

The team can also trade current draft picks for higher/more future draft picks. This strategy is a one year setback, but then yields more draft capital in every subsequent draft. Imagine trading your second round pick for a first round pick in next years draft, and doing it every year. There are varying degrees of this strategy. JJ can't look past the current season.

Dallas should also trade down more. They almost never do this. The #24 pick in the upcoming draft is worth two second round picks and a fourth rounder in the same slot in those rounds. If your best idea in the first round is Mazi, maybe consider dropping a few spots and pick up some capital. If your best idea in the second round is a backup TE, maybe drop down a few spots.

There is a formula for awarding comp picks that is the same for the whole league

If you did this for players on their level. You would have to give first round comp picks for great players that leave in free agency.

They’ll never do it, nor should they.

Competition seems unfair when you're run by incompetent buffoons.

I heard you have to hire and let go Black coaches like the 49ers in order to get comp picks.

The picks for White were not league awarded comp picks, it was compensation directly from a team that signed a franchise tagged player.

Things are different now, but why should a team get rewarded for deciding to not retain a player? I don’t see why they are given comp picks at all.
