The national media is flustered by all this

I'm sick of it too. Listening to NFL radio and the stupid Lions fans still complaining. Thankfully, Jim Miller who is from Detroit, but not a Lions fan basically said to the caller, Lions should have made a play. I wonder what the Lions players are saying. They are probably saying woah is me too. I'm so glad I don't live in Detroit any longer. They are being stupid. They even have shirts that say "Detroit vs Everybody". Why?

Yup we made a play down 14-0 after a bogus offensive interference call. They can't make one up 3 in Dallas territory with 8 minutes left?

You guys are inflicting this pain on yourself by choosing to read and listen to these various media outlets. I only use NFL.com for highlights and will turn on NFL network after a win to see Mike shove it in Faulk's face. Otherwise I don't bother reading/watching any mainstream stuff because it just gets my blood boiling.

You can't just stick your head in the sand and pretend it's not happening. Part of having your team being successful and winning in the playoffs is the attention they get in the media. Who here doesn't want to read and hear about their favorite team this time of year? There has always been a certain level of Cowboys Hate in the national media, but I don't ever recall it being at this level. Normally, I am not one to let it bother me, but going on two straight days of a concerted effort to downplay and lesson a great effort by the Cowboys in last weeks victory is starting to wear on me a bit.

The sad fact is unless the Cowboys win the Super Bowl. The haters will get their chance to beat their chest and claim I told you so dispite the fact the Cowboys already exceeded expectations for the season.

I have a cousin that is a Steelers fan. I swear he can't stop talking about us and that call. He talks about the Cowboys ten times more than he does the Steelers? People hate us more than they love their own team..He's about to get Deleted on Facebook. Sent me a pic of a referee on a boat with a star on the side drinking a glass of wine. Even though its a game you can cross the line....

Yeah i'm getting the same stuff from NY Giants fans here. It's unreal how upset they are.

Revel in it my friends. Their worst nightmare is the triumphant return of America's Team.

They know we are good now, whether we lose next week or win the Super Bowl.

Lol, the media doesn't give a crap about Dallas, they just want to manufacture a story that will generate the most clicks and views and over sensitive Cowboy fans fall for it time and time again, I couldn't give one damn about what anyone says about the Cowboys, I just want them to win, its all that really matters and all the BS just makes those wins even sweeter

When radio hosts call us "Obnoxious" because they say that ever year we act like we are going to win the Superbowl. Even though this year a lot of Cowboys fans didn't think that we would do well this year. But they bash the Cowboys fan base for getting excited if our team looks good. The saying is "Your team hasn't done anything recently" so that means that Cowboys fans shouldn't get excited?

Do they say the same thing to Bengals fans who get excited by their team every season even though Dalton hasn't won a playoff game yet? Nothing gets to the haters more than seeing Cowboys fans cheer for our team.

Hi all,

I don't think I have posted in recent years, but this topic has been on my mind this week. I have been surprised about the media regarding the game this week too.

I understand the inherent bias we all have when watching "our team" or a team we hate, but this coverage is bizarre. Its strange that a call with that much time on the clock would be such a focus on so many shows and articles. My best guess is that it is a combination of the Cowboys being a high profile team, and the way the penalty was called back after it had been announced. I have to admit, I haven't seen that before. The psychology of the reaction to that is interesting though. I don't think the call is much more than a footnote in most media coverage if the ref didn't announce it before conferring. I also feel like the call wouldn't even have been discussed much if the Lions went for it on 4th down (Whether they made it or not). We have all seen a lot of questionable calls for and against teams in a lot of NFL games.

I cant say I'm any less biased than most other fans. But, it just seems so odd that this is such a big deal to so many. The Lions had the ball and the lead with more than 8 minutes left. After this "travesty" of a call.... the Lions had the ball and the lead with more than 8 minutes left... I'm thinking that the irrational focus on that call has to be more about the fact that the penalty was announced before conferring, rather than just about Cowboy hate. But the hate may be part of it too.

Denial. Projection. Deflection. Anything to avoid reflection.

The national media is in a tizzy, tilting dangerously toward a complete psychotic meltdown. It's sad to watch really. It looks desperate and hopeless in an "I-want-my-mommy" kind of way.

Has ever an official's call against a team leading a football game with nine minutes left ever been so cynically analyzed and questioned?

Has an owner's celebrity guest ever been so scrutinized?

Has a quarterback's tremendous play and results ever been so downplayed, qualified, and categorically diminished? Same for the entire season of an NFL defense, for that matter?

Sometimes you're just wrong. It happens. But don't hold your breath for that admission from the nerdy networks.

What's left is a frothing northeastern media in full-on attack mode against a team it unapologetically detests because of too many years of living amongst a throe of Cowboy fandom that has fracked its way into unlikely crevices across the nation.

Remember August, when the cackles and laughs at Cowboy expense were such joyful times for the clueless know-it-alls, who were giddy to gang up for a five-month daily bludgeoning of Dallas fans. We heard 7-9, then 6-10, then braver souls sticking their necks out at 5-11 and worse. It was going to be so gloriously awful.

But now this.....this just can't be right.

My favorite explanation lately is how Dallas has "benefitted from an easy schedule." Huh? I thought this gauntlet of a schedule was the reason Dallas had no chance at breaking through the 8-8 barrier in the first place. I thought there weren't eight winnable games on the schedule even if Dallas played to its potential?

What really gut-punched the media was the impossibly unexpected waltz through December, which Dallas had to - it appeared at the time - win out to get in the playoffs. Not a chance that Dallas catches Philly, they thought. And then, to make it hurt deeper, the Eagles faltered, and the damn Cowboys decided to go ahead and win out anyway. Stick that up your Twitter.

So much is at stake for the media right now. The validation of Tony Romo. Oh my God. The acknowledgement of Jason Garrett. I need to have a seat. The rise of THAT young team with a promising future. This just can't be happening. Wake me now, please.

The media has acted all week like a cornered animal, rabid to poo-poo everything at every turn. The refs cheated. Blandino in the party bus. Christie in the owners' box. Conspiracies abound. The list will grow long if Dallas keeps winning.

Now imagine if you will....successive wins at frozen Lambeau and a second triumph at that hornet's nest in Seattle. That's about as tough a road travelled to the Super Bowl as ever taken.

How could they possibly spin that? How to minimize it and explain it away?

They can't, and they know it. The blowhards are imploding. Let's watch.

I'm probably one of the younger fans here, maybe not the youngest but younger. Unfortunately I didn't get to see Staubach or the Manster. So this media reaction has always been around with the Cowboys, but when EXACTLY did it start? For those who were lucky enough to watch the Boys in the 60s and beyond. I agree that this whole thing is extremely unfortunate and in my eyes threatens the integrity of the media in general.

Welcome to the life of a Cowboy fan. I've been one for 52 years and it's always this way.

I'm reminded of the old TV series Kung ** where Kane always had flashbacks of his childhood at the knees of the Showlin Priests..

He would always say " Grasshopper..you never pause and listen to the sound of the wind while drinking from the babbling stream..

..if you do..you will find your enemy has slipped up behind you and slit your throat.

..therefore drink from the stream and move on quickly lest you lose your cookies"

Or something like that.

Cowboys..move on and listen not to the babbling stream.

The Seahawks circle in the Western Sky.

And now POTUS has opened his mouth and advised he would be upset if he was a Detroit fan and even mentions Dez not getting flagged for arguing the call.

Psssst, it is not just the mediots. Some of the realist has some splaining to do too. I am loving it, playing with house money feels soooo good. Now bring let's literally ride fat boy and his lucky red sweater all the way to the super bowl.

You should tell him, "I know YOU'RE not talking about bad calls." See Super Bowl against Seattle Seahawks and bogus Big Ben touchdown, see phantom pass interference flag against Benny Barnes in Super Bowl 13, see Houston Oilers receiver Mike Renfro's touchdown that was ruled out of bounds in the AFC Championship Game.

That might be my favorite thing I ever read on here. It's exactly what I do too.

Explains so much.

I'm sure Christie laughing it up with the Joneses played into this a bit, but still.

Demarco Murray averaged 115.3 yards this season, with 5 fumbles. Emmitt Smith, in his top season, averaged 110.8 yards per game along with 7 fumbles. Emmitt's was enough to help carry the team to a Lombardi in '95.

Jim is a fellow Spartan alum and very level headed. He played the game and knows you can't make excuses about the refs and still call yourself a man. That's a wussy cop out.
