You don't think the move to get Caron Butler and Brendan Haywood worked???

And Jason Kidd has given this team much needed leadership at the PG spot.

How about getting Jet Terry and a first rounder for Antoine Walker and Tony Delk?

Let's try this.... why don't you tell me what trades made by the Mavs have been so terrible?

dont be premature peplaw....the move only works if it gets them a ring...otherwise the move was merely a lateral one...all it did was get them where they were before the move, a playoff contender that couldn't seal the deal.

Sorry. It's not premature at all. The Mavs are a better team now than they were before the trade. Period. I'm not defining the success of that trade on whether it got them far enough to beat the Lakers/Cavs/whoever else. If trades were only judged by whether the team won it all or not, like 5% of all trades would be "successful."

the Mavs were already the 2-3 seed before the trade...they ended up the 2 seed after the trade. they didnt improve their position in the conference. it isnt like they went from the 8 seed to the 2-3 seed after the trade......

as of now it is showing signs of being a great trade...however, if the Spurs win this series or if they lose in the next few rounds, like I said, it is a lateral move...they are not a better team. they are the same team that had high expectations, but couldnt get it done yet again.

I will say this though......the Spurs are a worse team after the RJ trade. I really hate that guy.

The difference between the 2 seed and the 8th seed was 5 games. There's not a doubt in my mind if we didn't have Butler and Haywood we would be somewhere in the 5-8 range. The Mavs went on a 13 game win streak after the trade. Had that not happened, they could easily be 3-5 games worse than they ended up.

You're not even arguing that the Mavs aren't a better team than they were before the trade. That would be moronic for anyone to even say.

Trust me, the expectations went up after that trade. It's really not even arguable. You're simply unwilling to give the team any credit for the trade, and you're setting up your argument for if they don't win it all. Sorry, that's not how it works. The trade can still "work" without getting the Mavs the title.

the NBA should just go ahead and outlaw dribbling altogether. I mean, just what the hell is traveling now?

Go Magic. We got a chance to sweep the Bobcats with a W tonight. We would be the only team with a sweep in the first round. Win tonight also makes 10 game win streak.

The Magic are going to win it all, and I've said as much since early March.

They have too much talent, an amazing, demanding coach, and a great offensive scheme.

Here's a blog I wrote after game 1 of the Hawks series:

http://richiez23.wordpress.com/2010/05/04/note-to-nba-start-paying-attention-to-the-orlando-magic/

The national media and many others jumped on the bandwagon soon after.
