I would agree with you ONLY if we trade Romo or Henson for another first day pick.
You can't keep adding quarterbacks (with no experience). It only muddies up the water even more. Bill isn't going to let one have any playing time anyway, and by adding another, you are going to have to split time by yet another player. You'll never find out what you have.

We've invested time in Romo and Henson and we need to find out what they can do on an NFL field, under actual game conditions.

I've watched several Clemson games over the last couple years since the ACC is featured because of FSU here locally.

All of the scouting blurbs have ready say Whitehurst has little mobility. What are these guys watching? He moves around very well for a tall guy.

Love his arm strength and mechanics as some have mentioned in this thread. Can't wait to see him in silver and blue.

Problem is...I don't think he'll last past the 3rd round.

I'm not saying give up on Henson. I like the guy, but, as you say, we need options.

I believe the course is to ship Romo out for what you can get for him and bring in a guy like Whitehurst.

Remember the Pats drafted Brady when Bledsoe was in his prime and by all accounts their future. Then, the Pats go out last year and draft Cassell from USC and from all indications, they hit another good, young QB.

That's the way it's done and it's what we should have been doing the last 7 or 8 years and we wouldn't find ourselves in this position.
So Cassells a good, young QB? and Romo and Henson aren't? They are in the same boat the Cowboys are in as far as those guys go. They just have a younger, better starter than we do and they didn't find out what they had in Brady until Bledsoe got hurt.

I think it's funny how people like to say that Henson is still very green and then in the next breath say how they think we should draft a college qb.
Anyone think Charlie Whitehurst is going to come into the NFL and start lighting it up?
What makes anyone think Whitehurst will not be as green as Henson is right now...or worse?
We are developing qb's......that's not a quick and easy thing to do now in the salary cap era because it takes time.
If we are going to trade Romo then I am all for drafting a qb, but Whitehurst will not be head and shoulders over Henson. Anyone who thinks that is dreaming.

I'll pass on Whitehurst. I think that Romo or Henson will be every bit as good, if not better, than what Charlie could ever be.

I couldn't have said it any better myself.

Clemens would be intriguing in the 5th or so if he's there also.

Too bad we can't learn a thing or two from the Pats. Especially when it comes to drafting and grooming a Qb to start for us many years to come.

Whiethurst is going to be picked alot earlier than some of you think I believe...those thinking he'll be there when our pick olls around in the 3rd are going to be surprised...same for Clemens

QB's are almost overdrafted, especially if they have any physical talent...Whitehurst has nearly flawless throwing mechanics and excellent accuracy/arm strength...he is big and has an excellent release point...he's going off the board in the 2nd rd IMO...Clemens isnt as talented as Whitehurst but I think he will go 2nd/early 3rd as well

too many teams want QB's, especially teams that draft before us...its unlikely that Buffalo, Detroit, Arizona, St Louis, Baltimore or Minnesota gets a QB in round one, but very likely some of these teams will use a 2nd rd pick on a QB (especially Minnesota, which has two 2nd rd picks)...Whitehurst, Croyle and Clemens are all probable 2nd rd picks IMO
