Winning what? Think about THAT.
I don’t have to think about it, you don’t have to actually win something to be a winner. Maybe you should think about it. Are you calling yourself a loser because you’ve won nothing. Lol.

So, if you don't have to WIN something to be a WINNER.... what do you have to to do to be a "winner"?

This point in this time of year. Is all the negative nancy’s are out. they’re angry they like to complain. I’ll wait for the season when we’re winning and they disappear.
Why is it you think anyone that disagrees with you certainly must be..."angry".

What will trip us up?
1. Injuries
2. An anemic running game
3. Getting out coached
4. Can't stop the run

Here are a few things you might be concerned about:

Offensive Line:
Tyron Smith is over 30 and has been injury prone for years
Terrence Steele is coming off an ACL, may not be ready for the start of the season, and may not be functioning as well the entire year.
Tyler Biadasz is pretty much an average center, Pro Bowl notwithstanding.
Zack Martin has been great, but he's now over 30, and an injury to him along with other issues on the OL could be devastating to the entire offense.

Wide Receivers:
Michael Gallup did not play well last season and while there is hope he will bounce back this season, that isn't at all certain.
Brandin Cooks has a history of concussions. Another serious one could very well end his career.
Other than CeeDee Lamb, this team doesn't have another receiver they can count on, only receivers they hope will develop.

Tight Ends:
Dalton Schultz has been one of the most productive TEs in the NFL over the last couple of seasons.
There is hope that Ferguson, Hendershot, & Schoonmaker will develop, but most TEs don't deliver at the level Schultz has.

LB:
It's a bad idea to depend on linebackers with a history of serious neck injuries.
Both Vander Esch and Clark have a history of serious neck issues. Either or both could very easily relapse this year.
There isn't another LB on the roster with a history of NFL production.

PK:
Does anyone think they have an NFL quality PK on the team? Other thank Vizcaino's mother, that is?

I am a Cowboys fan, but these are potential issues, if you want a truly balanced view, to go along with the hopes and dreams.
Find a new team.

What was so aggressive about their offseason? The two trades for late round picks? Otherwise it looked like the same old sit this one out philosophy.

Who was the big FA get? Chuma Edoga?

They didn't do nearly enough to surround the stiff QB with so much talent that even he can succeed and that will ultimately end their season. Again.

LEADERSHIP and sky pointing only get you so far.

What do you mean by "could bite us again"? The Cowboys acquisition of Gilmore and Cooks is nothing to sneeze at. As far as the Cowboys neglecting FA in other years, I suppose you can make the argument that there have been recent SB winners that made FA gambles that paid off. The Bucs and the Rams made it work and won a SB but are now paying the price for putting themselves in cap hell and mortgaging their futures.

But you have to ask yourself just how many other teams have tried to do the same thing and end up destroying their future. Does anybody remember the 2000 Washington Commodes loading up with FAs and ended up destroyed their cap for years?

The FA philosophy you espouse can work but the price a team will pay if they miss is steeper than a team missing on draft picks.
What's bolded is all that matters. This paying the price stuff is for losers. Winning a Super Bowl is the goal. You want to spin not doing what it takes to win one as a good thing, then you have fun with that.

The Cooks and Gilmore trades are absolutely good moves, but it's still not using free agency to full advantage. It's using trades, which Dallas has done before during this drought. The teams you've mentioned and others that have gone to and won Super Bowls have signed both cheap and costly FAs in their quest. The Joneses' philosophy eliminates the costly ones and it keeps us from adding that one piece, that Charles Haley (although he might be a bad example since we traded for him), that might complete the puzzle.

Last year, for instance, the Chiefs signed JuJu Smith-Schuster to a one-year deal worth up to $10.75 million. We signed James Washington on a one-year, $1.2 million deal. Who got the better bang for their buck? Would Smith-Schuster have helped us top the 49ers? I have no idea, but signing Washington instead kept a pretty good roster from being better.

There are several other moves the Chiefs made to build their Super Bowl roster that I could mention, but the main thing is that they use all avenues: draft, trades, cheap FAs, expensive FAs. The Joneses not being willing to use one of those makes achieving success more difficult.

We know one thing, if nothing else.

This year it won't be Garrett, Marinelli, Moore's or Zeke's fault.

At least we have Big Mike to scapegoat.

p.s. I am optimistic that the defense could be the horse that carries us to the promised land.
Now the irony in this is funny, you listed of the scapegoats for the loses and made sure to list the one that will get used if he wins..lol

The real irony of this exchange is in how your mind works.

Decide on a conclusion then make the evidence fit that conclusion.

It was. If you were capable of being objective, and not let you preconceived bias rule your thoughts, you would understand this.

Dear Moderator, lessons learned. Silly of me to start a thread like this. I no longer wish to rehash the past and time to move on! Can't wait for the season to get here!
