I personally would love to work with a guy like him. He definitely likes to keep things fun and does a good job at it.

You forgot gets fined $23,000 by his own team.
His youtube rap didn't affect the team's ability to win games next September. It was only bad from a PR standpoint, hence the fine.
If you cant see any potential problems down the road with this guy, after this past season, I suggest you take off the homer glasses and look again.

He's only one year in the league. He needs to take the cocky level down a notch.
He's not cocky. He's immature, but not cocky. And I don't know a lot of 22 year olds that I'd call "mature". I sure as hell wasn't mature at 22.

He feigns cockiness in a comedic manner. When he calls himself the sexiest football player alive, he's not being serious.

When he raves about the superpowers he possesses which rival those of Marvel/DC characters, he's being a self-depreciating goofball.

Maybe the problem is that some fans can't see how witty Martellus actually is. :)

Kid had a tremendous rookie year, considering the fact that he had VERY limited opportunities as a rookie playing behind the best TE in the game.

As long as he works hard and learns as much as he can from Witten, he'll be just fine. And he'll mature soon enough, like we all had to.

I hope you're right. I'm just saying I could see how there may be problems with him down the road, but I hope not.

Because I really like what this guy brings to the table on Sunday.

'Tellus is pretty damn funny, but the potential problems with this guy have little to do with his sense of humor.

Any guy Witten gets on with the tone and the sentiments Jason expressed in the press last season has red flags in my book. I also didn't like MB saying he wasn't Witten's backup last season after JW was critical of MB's maturity.

I know the Hard Knocks footage was taken out of context and that it'd be easy to find footage of me making faces at my boss if a camera were on me all day, but MB's attitude towards his position coach wasn't very impressive, either.

He may end up being just fine in the long run, but people who think he could well be a problem child aren't just uptight, or missing out on the guy's personality.

I hate to disagree because i like martellus but DUDE IS COCKY. I dont mind a little cockiness though...as a matter of fact a i think a little is needed.

Here is a true story. I ran into him at a night spot in the middle of the season. Dude was funny and entertaining. All he talked about was how he was gonna take wittens job and how witten would not sit out when he was injured because he knew his job would be in danger. I was pushing his buttons like.."you...take wittens job....right" and he said "brutha (nice way to say what he said) im already better than jason. Im faster, I have better hands, what and what on route running, and Im more athletic. If him and romo weren't sucking off each other (nice way again) witten would already be known as the 2nd TE. He might only come in on blocking situations."

True story.

Oh lordy everyone will hate him now, but i found it hilarious and entertaining.

You're right about that! It's blasphemy to talk about Saint Jason like that 'round deez parts!! IMO, every player needs some arrogant "swagger" or confidence with them to succeed in the NFL. Now, whether or not said swag needs to be on display is another matter, but I have no issue with him thinking he's better than 82 (even though I don't think that's the case). Now, if he would have said the same thing in the press or on "Marty B TV", that would be a problem, but a semi-drunk rant to you in a club is hardly enough to make me hate the guy.

What I care about is that I saw him act disrepectful to a coach, to a player, not know his assignment on a simple special teams play and then get fined for a Youtube video which he should have known was going to get him into some trouble.

I like what he does on Sunday. But there are 6 other days in the week.

I believe you because it fits his character.

But if you called up all 32 NFL teams and asked then who they want as their starting TE, Bennett or Witten, you would get the same answer 32 times.

Martellus Bennett would have to manufacture a helluva lot of **** in a relative short amount of time to remotely (and truthfully) be compared to Terrell Owens. To date, Bennett's video, rap, fine, "Hard Knocks" exposure, etc., equates to that of a molehill by comparison with Owens' 13+ year career of accumulated nonsense. While it's not impossible that he could some day become a Terrell Owens clone, it's highly unlikely that he could even begin to approach Owens' level until several years have passed first. Discussing Bennett's personality quirks is one thing, but trying to put him in Owens' clown shoes at this early stage is a huge reach by some.

no doubt. the answer is clear cut....and i believe everything he said about the attributes mentioned (speed, hands, athleticism etc) but witten is proven, tellus is potential, and as the great Jimmy Johnson said "potential only means you aint done it yet"

I hope Witten IS feeling some pressure from Millionaire Marty B.
Wish Romo felt some too.
Competition is a very good thing for the team.

By the way, Hard Knocks REALLY soured me on Bennett. He came across as very immature, disrespectful and not coachable. Now, my opinion is changing; he wants to be a winner and is loose.
